As you search through the bag, you find a pouch of jerky. Holding a piece out to him, he eats it happily, then jumps on you and licks your face. Congratulations! You have a new companion on your journey!

I think I'll choose C. What a person finds most essential is what they'll carry with them. Maybe I can learn a little about this person whose identity I've assumed.
(I think if I were in charge of something as complex as this, I'd need to rewrite everything in a linear format. Is the current system anything like a Choose Your Own Adventure book?)

You head back upstairs, noting how comfortable you are in this body; you don't stumble or falter at all. But, once you return to the room, your focus is entirely on the bag. It's simple brown cloth, but it seems sturdy enough. You dump the contents on the bed and spread them out a bit. There's a fountain pen and ink pot, along with an earthy green notebook that appears to be brand-new. There is also a map. An empty thermos and various snacks make you even more convinced that whoever you are now was planning for a trip.
What do you do?

(Actually, I come up with most of it on the spot. XD I do have a basic plot, but, since there are so may options and so many people, I kinda can't plan ahead very far. For example, you're the only one who isn't themselves OR human.)
