I was wondering, after fest is done, would you like to talk about deadlines?

I actually removed the deadline on this for the time being because fest lol....

Cleo looked up from the book she was reading. She had turned eighteen the day before and was being shown the true horrors of the world.

In the country of Sorieth eighteen was the year a person officially became an adult, and yesterday was the day Cleo became an adult. That day she was showed all the Ancients, not just the nice ones, but others. The most bloodthirsty of them all Caedes.

Cleo shivered as she remembered the lessons, but she knew the lessons did not cover the entire history of the Elder Ancients. She had put it on herself to figure more about the dreaded Caedes.

Cleo had always been one for books. Becoming into an adult did not change her love one bit. Immediately after the lessons, she set out to the capital library to find out about Caedes.

Cleo looked back down to her book, ciphering the ancient runes.

Caedes is part of the Elder Ancients. She is the Ancient of destruction and macabre. Part of them but different. She lived isolated away from all the others. She did not directly create a species, but made copies of one to make a mindless group of servants.

Caedes tried to kill the other Elders sparking the War of the Ancients. In the first big war, Caedes's corporeal form was destroyed. Later part of her spirit was also destroyed.

Legend goes that one thousand years later, on the brightest night, Caedes will return to finish the work she started. This time a new vengeance will follow making her deadlier. Only the 'Sword Of The Stars' will be able to defeat her.

Cleo looked up her eyes wide with fear. She knew today was the brightest night, the thousandth anniversary of the death of Caedes. Everyone else was happy knowing nothing of the disaster that lay ahead. The 'Sword Of The Stars' where is it. her mind yelled. She flipped frantically in her book until she found what she needed.

'Sword Of The Stars' lies in the heart of the tallest mountain in Soreath. It contains the power to destroy the Ancient Elders. It is protected by series of traps and magic to keep thiefs from taking it. The only people that can retrieve the sword are those that are kind, loving, brave, helpful, observant, and witty.

Cleo knew she possessed some of the traits, but not all. She ran down the path toward the only person who would believe her and help her.

Heidi looked up the long narrow dirt path to see Cleo running. Heidi knew what this was. Something, something devastating, something terrible, something that needed their friendship was happening. She raced inside grabbed her adventure pack. She ran around frantically trying to remember what she was forgetting. Food, yes, that is it food. She ran into the cellar grabbing all sorts of fruits, breads, and desserts. When she came out Cleo was coming up the threshold of the house.

"Come on!" Cleo yelled urgently.

"Where are we going?"

"To the heart of the highest mountain here."

"Why?"

"To keep Caedes from destroying everyone."

Heidi froze her eyes wide. "If we are stopping her, we better take the horses." She pointed her hands to the stable. Two horses, one sandy brown with a blond mane, and the other other deep black with a shiny black mane.

The two girls saddled onto the horses. In the twinkle of a eye, the horses galloped away manes flying in the wind.

Thirty minutes later...

The two friends reached the highest mountain, Mt. Lightning.

Cleo stopped Heidi before she ran into the mountain. "The way to the 'Sword Of The Stars' if guarded by dangerous paths and traps."

They used a rope from Heidi's pack to scale up the steep mountain. Little did they know, the first test was coming.

As the girls neared the top, sounds flooded the valley, scraping and scratching of rock against rock. The rope Cleo was using to climb lurched forward. In one quick jerking moment, the rope snapped in half like a piece of flax in a hurricane.

Cleo! Heidi screamed, frantically trying to catch Cleo as she plummeted. Cleo looked at her with wide doe eyes before falling out of sight.

What should I do? What should I do? What can I do? her thoughts came deep jagged lines of panic. What are you doing Heidi? You need to save her!

Without a moment's delay, she slid down her rope to where she last saw Cleo. With a gasp she looked around.

The only people that can retrieve the sword are those that are kind, loving, brave, helpful, observant, and witty. That is you. You helped me. You cared not for yourself, but for me. You were loving, and that saved us and got us to the right place. Cleo exclaimed her voice in all.

Well we still need to move on. No time to celebrate. Heidi replied.

They trudged on in silence until they reached an Ancient disguised as beggar. Past the beggar, a canyon of crystal. A way to cross, nothing but a rickety, ancient, wooden bridge.

"Come on." Heidi said. Running down the long the wooden bridge before Cleo could say anything.

"Wait." She said uselessly. Heidi was long gone across the bridge.

Cleo sighed taking one look at the ratty, tattered beggar.

"Here." She said gently placing all her allowance in the bowl. The Ancient changed forms, as a crystal slide reached across to a cave in the cliff.

"Go on." The Ancient said kindly, her smile wide.

"But what about my friend." Cleo said her fawn eyes wide.

"Your friend will be fine if she is brave." The Ancient replied with a mysterious smile before disappearing.

Now what Cleo said, her head buried in her calloused hands. Well I better get going. She thought sadly as she whisked down the crystal slide.

Heidi looked around. The cave she was in looked and felt wrong.

And suddenly, she was there. A sinister grin on her face, her horns shining gracefully yet blood dripping from them. Mortals from around the world came to look at her. The eleventh rebirth of Caedes. She had to stand still, and that was all. So she did: She went trough her days standing still as a painting while she was being looked at. Now, of course, it was unlikely that a creature so unique as her could find any joy in this. The mortals standing below were talking and talking, Caedes slowly becoming bored. That was until she heard a mortal say one specific thing; ''omg such edgy''.

At that moment, the she-wolf snapped. She jumped out of position and went towards the human that called itself trolmaster10. The humans gasped and ran, but the insulting one froze in place. Trolmaster had not seen this coming. Caedes looked at him with her menacing eyes almost touching his. ''Well well mortal, looks like I found my next toy. I must admit I was bored up there, but you might've just fixed it for me.'' She opened her mouth to bite his head. ''Wait!'' Trol suddenly yelled. Caedes closed her mouth slowly. ''What?!'' She snarled impatiently. ''I-I can release you of your boredom!'' He said. ''I can take you around this world!'' Caedes smiled. ''Is that so? Well then, let's start now. But if you disappoint me-'' She made a biting motion with her mouth. ''Alright...'' Trol was sweating while he clicked on a button saying browse

The pair teleported to a new room. It was filled with all kinds of creatures, small, big. Immortal and mortal. Of all kinds of different sexualities even. They walked around, Caedes looking not-so-pleased. ''Can I eat any of them?'' She asked. ''Uh... Emh.. I don't think so.'' ''-I want to eat!'' She shouted in response. It made all the creatures cower in fear. ''Alright alright!'' Trol walked up to a bar saying search. ''Mice.'' He said and they teleported away to another room.

Caedes looked around for her prey. Two friendly looking mice ran by. One was pastel yellow and the other one pastel blue. They were playing together peacefully, not having noticed the wolf looking at them. Caedes lowered into the hunting crouch, licked her lips and jumped at the creatures. They squeaked in pain, quickly dying. Caedes smiled and ate the blue one. She touching the yellow one with her nose and sucked its soul out if it. Trol looked with wide eyes.

''So, what is this edgy that you were talking about earlier?'' Caedes asked. ''Hehe... When something is.... Eh... Unnecessary evil- I'll just show you.'' He walked up to the search bar again. ''Fan Art.'' He said with his eyes closed. Caedes looked around, a legion of eye-bleeding colors mixed with terrible bases and black was marching towards them. ''Parents died, hidden princess, Shadow's daughter...'' It said.zombie like.

Caedes licked her lips. ''So you hate this?'' Trol nodded. ''For freeing me, i will help you then.'' She jumped towards the army, scratched, biting, and growling. She devoured all of them her eyes glowed. ''I guess that's it then.'' She jumped out of the field of dead people. ''Seeya.'' She clicked on the browse button and disappeared.

Could I continue my story with a second?

Sorry! School's been so demanding lately (literally hours of reading every night) I haven't been able to work on anything >__<" Depending on how long this contest goes, I might just participate in the next one. Sorry to bother you D:
