"No!" said the girl, ignoring the pain in her throat. "No more people!"

Itri looked back at his friend, surprised by her outburst. He knew that she didn't like people, but somehow he had failed to notice how deep that hatred actually went.

"Seraphine was my sister! And they took her. They took her........ I-I-I never saw....... her again." Angela cried. She collapsed sobbing. Tiger comforted Angela.

The girl coward some, not liking the sudden yelling. "But they are nice friends, really." She said quietly as the the shadows gathered round her, some hugging her with their wispy arms. "See? They are nice friends." All of the shadows were adults, some bend in pain others deformed in other ways. All looked as if they were in pain in some way with mouths wide open and eyes pale as the light. "They take care of me see?"

Aydan reached out and pat the girl on the head. "Don't worry, I'm sure she's somewhere in the lab" He said, although he didn't believe it, and knew that the girl, in all likelihood, wouldn't either. "How about this" He said, standing up straight and brushing off his lab coat. "I'll help you snoop around for your sister, asking the other scientists about her whereabouts and such, but you two will have to promise me that you'll let me help you rather than just trying to break out of the lab with no plan and no place to go."

Itri backed away from the girl and the shadows, his eyes wide and his heart beating. He didn't know what was going on, but the atmosphere surrounding the shadows... it just didn't feel right. Voices filled his head suddenly, their whispers indecipherable yet deafening. He had heard voices before, but usually only one at a time, and they usually disagreed with each other, yet this time they all were speaking in one clear wave of sound, all seeming to agree on one unspoken matter. Itri couldn't be near the shadows. He couldn't. He bolted down the hallway.

The nameless child watched her friend ran away and suddenly felt alone. Heart breakingly, spirit crushingly alone. The shadows were unnerving, of course, but nothing terrifying. They were just kind of sad. She curled back into a ball, her long tail wrapping around her. Sad and broken, like her.

Angela screamed. "Stop it! The shadows!" Angela screamed in fear. "No please! Stop them! They are coming!" Tiger put his arms around Angela.

Aydan looked from the tiger boy and the winged girl to the shadow girl to down the hallway where Itri had ran. "Look after these kids!" He yelled to Ase, before taking off after his son.

Itri ran. He slipped through a door that someone had left open (the door that leads into the back half of the lab, where all the darker experiments happen) When he finally stopped, he realized that he had no idea where he was. He had never been lost before. He sat down and cried, his tears a mixture of stress, and fear.

Tiger held Angela close and she hugged him close. "What are we to do........" Angela cried. Tiger hushed her and kept trying to keep Angela busy with jokes and idle chit chat. Angela soon was laughing and smiling.
