The noises stop, then you can hear the distinct click of claws as a soft silver glow appears just around a corner you couldn't see before.

It doesn't seem fazed, and the branch breaks off in your hand. Finally you stop, and the snake... releases you and slithers away. Right in front of you, you see a stone wall overgrown with vines.

Latif took a careful step, easing her way forward while keeping her hands close to her body. It wouldn't do to startle whatever is making that light.
(Evidently I have chosen cave by lingering too long, lol)

You approach the corner, and hear a rustling of feathers as whatever it is comes to meet you.

Latif steps forward one more time, coming out from behind the corner and revealing herself to what was there. After a moment, she turns her head to view what the glow truly was.

A Nytekrie faces you, and you can see that the glow is coming from it's runes. It puffs up it's chest, staring you dead in the eye.

Latif stared back for a few moments, making sure the mental challenge was recieved, and then bowed her head in silent submission. The glow from its runes illuminated the cave nicely, though Latif did not dare take her eyes off the profile of the Nytekrie.

The Nytekrie dips it's head in return, and turns to walk back down the tunnel it came from. You notice it's limping heavily.

I pant deeply.
The snake wanted me here, echoing in my mind. Well if this was what the snake wanted, he wouldn't get it. I whirled around and sprinted away as fast as I could.
