She pauses for a moment, thinking. "Well, when I was a child, they said that every 100 years, someone would come here in search of the lost city. I thought it was ridiculous. How can you lose a city?" she laughs, not seeming totally in her right mind.

It doesn't. Launching yourself while on the ground is not a good idea. He steps to the side and you miss, hitting the geound. Ow. He looks like he's trying not to laugh.
