I've been looking through the threads and haven't seen anything on this topic, so I figured I'd start my own :)

Some sites have an app for phones now a days, so I was thinking that a sylestia app would be awesome. Especially since I can't log onto my computer 24/7. It could be simple so we can feed and care for our pets and maybe even look through the forums. Eventually, maybe there can be updates to the app so we could eventually use the explore option and be able to battle. There could even be fun mini games that could be added to the app. Like, a matching tile game or the bubble shooting games. There would be a lot of potential for an app for mobile devices :) I'm sure if we all add ideas, then maybe it could become a thing. I do know that something like that would cost a lot to even put into motion, so maybe make a beta type app that only certain people can have access to until it can be released?? Test out the bugs and see what needs to be improved upon. Maybe even have a thing on kickstarter to see if anyone would support the idea and help make it happen. Could give little rewards for those that do help out. Just a few ideas I had. Not sure if anyone has already suggested this or not though.

Sorry no support for me.
As someone who is a mobile only player making it an app would force me to quit. As many games will only allow you to use the app on a mobile device and not a browser. (Looking at you Elvenar and Howse)
If the mobile format was switched to an app I would have to quit as my device would not have enough memory to store another apps worth of info. (Sylestia or save contacts. I would have to choose saving my contacts)
However if you could still maintain the browser while having an option for an app I could possibly get behind. But that usually does not happen. If games create apps then they usually discontinue the mobile browsers.

Support, as long as any features on the app don't end up replacing those available on the pc version of the site or exclusive solely to an app. The addition of an option on settings to toggle whether or not a player is redirected to the app version when accessing the site on mobile would also be highly appreciated.
(looking at neopets here as an example of a pet site that has a dedicated mobile version of the site but with no way to disable it without forcing the desktop version.. ugh.)

As it currently stands, (and I can say this as a mostly mobile player), Sylestia is 'mobile friendly' but doesn't have much in way of a specific mobile site outside of lacking a feature and general scaling oddities. (No access to cometchat without a direct link to it or forcing Sylestia to display the PC version of the site in your browser settings, odd forum scaling, etc.)

It'd be nice to have some UI modernization and QOL changes across the board and not just with this specifically.

no support here either. the site is just fine on my mobile devices already. I am not sure if you realize the processes involved in taking a website to an app. Krin would need to hire an app developing team to create and continue to run the app side of things and this is a poor idea when sylestia isnt bringing in much revenue and with covid19 being a thing would possibly push the site into shutdown. The daily users for the site wouldnt be enough to sustain such a move. perhaps if we ever have millions of active players an app would be a good idea but atm it isnt

not to mention the sheer variety of various OS's and devices would make it almost a necessity to have multiple versions.

then there is the trouble that having to keep them both updated would bring and I would honestly be afraid that if it proved that the app was more popular, then the browser based game would be abandoned, or only get minor updates while most major content would go to the app, which would leave me out, as I dont' have a device that will handle apps.

Apps are, from what I hear, pretty expensive to make, and not something that most petsites that I know of have the resources to create and maintain (because the hiring of someone to create the app would not mean a one time fee, that person would have to be kept on the payroll to maintain the app with future updates and handle any bugs)

No support, for the reasons that other people said. It'd take too many resources and COVID-19 is making people be more careful with their money, so there might not even be enough funds to kick off an app, much less maintain it with the rather high (from what I heard, anyway) standards of Apple's App Store. I'm not sure about Google and it's Play Store, but I assume the same.

I would actually HATE it if Sylestia developed an app game that gave exclusive prizes. Unless that game was available to everyone on site, regardless of whether they connect via their phone, or xbox, or pc or however else they connect, it would be massively unfair to players who simply cannot afford a phone capable of running such an app. Even if someone has a phone that can handle apps, it doesn't mean that it will handle Sylestia's app. As said earlier, even if the phone will handle Sylestia's app, it also doesn't mean that person will be able to use the app anyway, due to limits on data space.

I personally don't really see the need for apps for sites like Sylestia, or even sites like FR that already have fairground games, not when a mobile friendly site would do pretty much what most people want an app for (the most common reason I have seen this suggestion on FR is because for some reason that person's phone has trouble with a function of the site, though often other people will say that their phone handles that particular function just fine), and be much easier to maintain and be much less likely to go fully mobile, leaving players like me behind (I don't have a mobile phone capable of running apps), or cause the site to have to handle the expense of running basically two games and maintaining them.

Yes same, even if I could and did use the app I'd probably forget to check it for weeks or even months at a time, so if I missed out on exclusive stuff... That's just stupid, okay? Plain dumb. I'm not trying to be rude here, but seriously. Also this has been pointed out before but app-ifying Sylestia would be very expensive...
