First of all, apologies if this has been requested before. I looked through a few pages and couldn't find a similarly-named thread. There isn't an advanced forum search as far as I'm aware, so I couldn't check that way either.
I, and many others I'm sure, would highly appreciate if there was a darker alternative to the current design. It would be optional of course.
A significant percentage of websites these days offer at least two options - light and dark designs aka day mode and night mode. Personally, I always use a dark theme if I can, because it's easier on my eyes. The worst is when I switch from YouTube (which I have on night mode) to Sylestia, and the immediate contrast hurts my eyes quite a bit.
I understand Sylestia is quite unique and it wouldn't be as easy to integrate a "night mode" into the current design. You have a weather system which has some influence over the design. If it's a bright day or snowy, you can't just make it dark - I get that.
What I'd suggest is having an option for it to always be nighttime. It wouldn't necessarily be nighttime based on the clock i.e. the clock wouldn't just always be on "midnight". However, the background pictures and other design that's influenced by weather and time would always appear as if it was nighttime. Of course you'd have to change the colours of the rest of the website, but that's the easy part, right?

As someone who has light sensitivity and literally has to lower the screen brightness on everything I look at to ~10%, so much so that other people who borrow my smart phone go all squinty-eyed and ask "How do you even SEE on this thing??" To which, after I up the brightness for them to use and later retrieve the phone, I ask "How do you still see at all?" as I cringe away from the blinding light and drop my brightness back to near-nothing...
Yes please. Forums, especially, have sooooo much bright white I'm usually looking down at my desk while typing to avoid the strain. @_@

I wouldn't mind this option, since I've been experimenting with dark themes to help my blindness (basic lil story: i'm blind in one eye and the other is half blind so eyestrain is an issue).

It's been suggested before but for a different reason. It's very understandable having a hard time finding it. I could only find it by looking for the face icon for posts you make yourself and it was past 20 pages. Unfortunately, I had used photobucket and now the pictures are screwy but people posted some other examples as well. There's a lot of glow effects on Sylestia that are completely lost with the current light color scheme. You'll notice this if you start posting a lot of glowy sylesties or avatars on discord how much detail you can suddenly see.

Wow! It really doesn't make sense to have this bright theme then. Seems like the website designer and the pet designer need to talk to each other more lol

I think there's already been talks of having a darker color theme but I can't recall when I saw the information or when it's planned to be implemented. I do hope it to be soon though. It's just incredible how much detail is missing currently with the light one.

I agree entirely with this suggestion.
Someone in charge should really get on this. ><

Since your name is in a strangely different color, do you happen to know anyone in charge that might get on this, and perhaps add nice pretty other themes so that I can have all blue everywhere I go (just kidding about the all blue ;))
