I've seen some people here have projects where they have certain pets or something. Are they just for personal reasons?

Here's a much less vague answer for you. :P

People do projects for all sorts of reasons, some of them more personal, many meant for selling to people eventually. Here are some examples...

-Breeding to get the first 6v in a theme

-Breeding to any number of vis in a theme because you like the traits and colors

-Breeding to get the first max-vis for a restricted theme (usually 4, sometimes 5 or 6 - often people will make dyed projects out of the finished results as well)

-Designing a pet for personal reasons (in honor of a pet that died, perhaps, or I know of one person who made a project to honor a parent)

-Making a design you just really like, and breeding to make it a reality

-Breeding to max or super stats for easier battling (often accompanied by a good-looking design, but not always)

Many people will sell offspring of their completed project pets. There's a good market for max and super stat pets, because they're so useful in battle. But sometimes people just have really nice designs that aren't max stat, and people buy them just because they like the designs.
