I heard we might be hearing the end of net neutrality. I was just wondering if this site will be affected by it. If it will be, then is there any way to help so that the site remains free?

PERSONAL OPINION WARNING

I'm not sure if there is a way the site will/can stay free, if the site is able to stay at all. I heard that some sites will be blocked, and I'm almost positive the admin are worried about this to some degree. Not to mention prices for pretty much everything internet will go up, and in my opinion, ultimately ending up in some form of economical collapse (because the rich gets richer and thereby will destroy the middle and lower class families by having their tax, loan, bill, etc. prices skyrocketing.).

I would not worry about it too much.

The internet will continue, one way or another.

Sylestia will continue, 100% regardless of net neutrality.

Also, there are zero things happening anytime in the near future. The vote definitely opens the door now for ISPs to do bad things, but that will take years most likely and most likely will come in tiny steps and pieces as they slowly push the boundaries bit by bit.

Could this be the start of an awful series of changes to the internet over the next decade? Very possible.

Is anything changing at all in the next 3, or even 5 years - specifically to Sylestia in relation to this? Very, very doubtful.

I wouldn't worry that Sylestia will stop existing; however, I kinda wonder if bad things will be acted on as quickly as possible to take advantage of this window that might be closed again to them later. Seems that there's intention to take the decision to court at least so there's still a chance neutrality may remain. It's pretty scary but we'll just have to wait and see what happens.

The vote still has to pass through Congress and Congress isn't too happy. They want to keep net neutrality.

Yeah, the vote has to go through Congress, and I'm pretty sure they'll say no. If not, the president may veto it. But the thought of losing net neutrality is mind boggling. It violates our first amendment. It's unconstitutional. But I doubt that even if we lose net neutrality, Sylestia will go away. It might take a really long time for sites to get blocked anyways.
