Hey! Well after much debating I have decided that I want to give playing an MMO RPG, however I have no clue what ones are good, and what ones I shoun't waist my time on. So please give me suggestions on what MMO RPGs you play, and please list the pros and cons. Oh, and they MUST be free to play!

Please ping me so I know you posted your suggestion(s), thanks.

Alright, let's see...

Games I've personally played, which I can offer my input, but I don't necessarily recommend:

Mabinogi
Pros:
cute, different classes at this point, seems to be newbie-friendly now, there are several events on the monthly to enjoy
Cons: it's free to play but moreso freemium, where you'd have to invest time or money to look pretty; this is kinda on par with the value of the pros

Vindictus
Pros:
Easy to pick up and click/mash buttons to kill things; it's a hack-and-slash game mainly, parties are temporary if you want to join others in the killspree
Cons: I guess graphics-wise it's kinda intensive, but doable; freemium, but I didn't feel the need to pay cash as much as the other games I mention (it mainly goes to looking pretty)

Dream of Mirror Online
Pros:
different jobs, suitable for parties, you look decently pretty with every level
Cons: I don't know the extent of the freemium, but it's kinda tough being solo and figuring things out on your own (at least from my perspective); to level smoothly, it's easier to join other parties, which consist of tank/musician/doctor/AoEs, so leveling up may be strict, but you may find friends in that

TERA
Pros:
I actually spent a day playing this LOL; I looked very pretty at every level and it seemed pretty
Cons: I heard that it gets grindy and boring since the quests are usually kill x monsters or get x items

Games with private servers (a.k.a. unofficial servers that host the game's files)
Cons:
It's extremely risky to install their files, they trigger most firewalls when installing, and they may have viruses even if you can play the game; it's actually unpopular to consider them a choice when you're looking for MMOs lol; also, these games expect you to know how to play the game from the official version, so it's easier to start with the official version to learn how to play before going to a private server
Pros: They usually are games with multipliers on the gold/drop/exp rates and access to cash-items without cash, which is like the opposite of freemium; it's kinda like once you play em, you never go back...but this is a big risk to take if the site isn't trustworthy

Personally, I find Aeria Games and Nexon (same people behind MapleStory, Mabinogi, and Vindictus) games as freemium types of games: they're free to play, but almost all the likeable features are cash features.
It could be different for the other games they host, but that's just me.

Other games recommended to me or seen in passing, but I don't have input for: (no particular order)
Elder Scrolls Online
Neverwinter Nights
League of Legends (you're probably better off playing this with friends....it's only ever fun that way lol; I find it stressful without)
ArcheAge
Trove (minecraft-y)

Another option is having a facebook account just for games. They may not be traditional MMOs, but they're free to play and maybe there's some interactivity that you'll like that you may not find in typical MMOs (i.e. farmville lol)
Pros: they're all free lol, there's a variety of games as well, depends on where and how long you look
Cons: Some probably operate on an "energy" or "waiting" system, where you do a lot of actions in one go, then to either do more actions or make progress, you must wait hours or "ask friends" for help, but that's not really necessary if you have all the time in the world...

That's what I have to offer. Ever since I started school, I only play browser games, mobile games, or buy games on Steam/console. There's this game I play on Steam that's fun for online multiplayer, but it's bought aha. I find bought games or console games not as money-draining or freemium as free-to-play games, since one purchase stands for most of the content.

This may not help, but it's my input. :)

The only one I'm allowed to play, well not really, is rotmg, realm of the mad god owned by kabam... It's an MMO rpg bullet hell. 14 classes, online, no download

I guess smite from moba would be pretty cool from what I've heard :P

Thanks Flute, I'll look into them, and see if any of them might match what I'm looking for.

If you think of any others please feel free to edit your post or make a new one.

Would you mind listing what you feel the pros and cons are of Relm of a Mad God please? That way I can have a better idea of if I'd like it or not.

I haven't played a whole lot of MMO's (I enjoy them, but I have relatively slow internet so it makes it difficult sometimes) but one of my favorite free-to-play games is Everquest II.

Pros:
-Lots of races and classes to choose from
-Pretty decent character creation options
-There is premium content you can pay for, but it is completely possible to get a great game experience without it.

Cons:
-The game was originally released in 2004, so the graphics are a bit outdated.
-The crafting/tradeskill system can be a bit confusing/tedious (in my opinion, at least)

Thanks for the suggestion, but the whole family has a ban on that game as it almost runied the marrage of my fiance's sister.

I'll admit though that the art is really pretty.

Uuum...
Pros and cons... Eim XD

Pros
Web based, no download (realmofthemadgod.com / play it on kabam, steam, kongregate, or flash projector)
14 classes to choose from, 14 strategies to play
Many dungeons to adventure in and it's not too hard to get good at the game in general
And I dunno xD I'm. Gonna have to think this through :P

Cons:
Can be laggy
Community is a little chilled against new players, but most not (just don't beg on the game, that's mainly why)
Quite a bit of hackers :/
