I would really like to know how innacurate lesser pet dyes are since I will be trying to dye this pet to this using 6 dyes from the scale shop. It wouldn't be much fun to earn 6,000 scales to buy the dyes, and end up with my pet becoming an eyeburner.

In a way, they're good for getting around those colors, but not exactly those colors...like I would expect a 5-15 point swing per RBG. But it's been awhile since I dyed a pet.
This thread may help. There are posts that document how much of a swing there was when using a lesser dye.

I believe you can buy them on the broker for around 50k each?

Personally I've found the lesser dyes to be pretty decent. Black and white can be an issue since it doesn't take much for them to look off. Blues are generally pretty forgiving, but then I like most blues so if it's a little off I don't mind. I did have a gold that I finally used a greater dye because it just would not behave.
You can buy dyes on the broker, but there isn't a lot and lesser dyes are now up to 90k or more.

I've found the lesser dyes work best with blues, greens and purples.
Not so well with black, white, red or yellow.
Though recently I was trying to dye a pet dark purple, and ended up with dark green! Yuck! Luckily the 2nd dye gave me the color I wanted.

Aw, somebody referenced a thread I created! When it comes to Sylestia, I think that means I have officially "arrived." Thanx, Flute.
BTW, Uranium, if you look at Post #26 on that thread, you'll see that even a Greater Dye may fail to give exactly the results you want.* It's all a roll of the dice.
*Of course, I was working within some very narrow color range parameters. Being outside the desired color range, numerically speaking, by a single point is unnoticeable to the eye, which is why I didn't spend a second Greater Dye just to take care of that one point! I'm weird, but not that weird.
