Hi everyone! I had an idea recently regarding community awareness (about Sylestia).
If you're a player, either new or old to the site, I wanted to start a series of group discussions about certain topics that come in Sylestia and it's community.
These topics include:
-pet economy (Why are pet prices for wheel pets so high? Why are 1g pets being released? Why is this a bad thing, and why does this happen?)
-community etiquette (What topics should we talk about in the general chat/region chat? When do players cross a line where it becomes uncomfortable to talk, and needs a topic change or an admin to be involved? How can we have a nicer community and avoid drama?)
-forum etiquette (What's the difference between a sale and an auction? What should we not do (i.e. whether to tell people that their prices are unfair or not)?)
-edit: controversial topics in general!
-etc (What do players want to learn about? What are the common grey areas that players aren't sure about, that a guide or a discussion can clarify?)
After talking about these issues and coming to a community consensus regarding the topics, I figure to summarize it into a guide that people can refer to regarding the topic. (So for example, with the pet economy, when new players or old players want to know why 1g pets are being released, they can look at the guide, and the matching discussion thread that went with it.)
After making the guide, people may know a little more about the topic, and act accordingly about it, or know why it happens as it happens. (i.e. People can go releasing 1g pets if they really want, OR they can PM newbies selling their pets for 1g about the topic of pet economy, so there's no misunderstandings.)
Often, some things that the community automatically does, or things that go with an assumed status quo (such as breeding rights, how to sell pets, pet pricing, or just having manners with others) are unexplained or aren't known to everyone.
Without upsetting others, I thought having a community discussion about these topics (including talking about opinions and what should be done with each issue that pops up) would help alleviate drama or problems whenever they happen.
Community awareness and talking things out, I believe, is a good way to smoothen out topics before issues or drama arise (which can be inevitable, but at least being aware is better than not knowing how the community regards a topic at all).
Anyways!
Would anyone be interested in joining these group discussions, or summarizing what happens in them? :)
I'd love not just older users, but newer ones as well. ^^
Primarily, active members! But everyone is welcome!
I was thinking to make a group of active members (both newbies and veterans!) that would basically help commit to keeping the discussion alive, and maybe formulate ideas as to how to fix up problem areas of the site with the community awareness discussions.
It isn't really as complicated as it seems, but as long as there's grey area in Sylestia that can be addressed by the community and talked over to find a solution that other players can follow to avoid misunderstandings, the discussions and guides may be helpful.
Well, you already know my view on the matter, I think this is a great idea! A good, civil discussion would definitely help us work out a few of the issues in Sylestian society as well as bring a greater understanding and unity to the community. ^^ I'm definitely willing to help out with the discussion.

This sounds lovely! I'd gladly join in on a discussion like this. I'm sure that I can contribute some ideas and gain from this as well.

Thanks everyone for your replies. ;u; I'll make a ping list and when I make the first community discussion, I'll ping everyone to it.
Water: It's okay, just being involved/reading along, and maybe saying what your thoughts are on it, is helpful. c:
Also! To everyone:
I was thinking to maybe start the first discussion (it'll just be another thread in the General Discussion forum) near the Spring Festival? I was hoping to get more newbie members or members that don't usually go on the forums from the Region Chat. ^^ I'm still looking to find more newbie members to probably get involved.
Or I can start one in the beginning of April and find more members to join the discussion later.
What do you guys think?
