We will be taking the Site offline Monday, May 19th for an extended period of time. After much debate, we've decided that the best way to handle the upgrades of pet-related pages is to completely rebuild the pet database tables. At this point in time, the current pet database table is keeping me from rebuilding some features (like the Stables). It's also extremely difficult to create two systems and have them run side by side (which is what I've been attempting to do unsuccessfully).

While I can't say the exact amount of time the Site will be inaccessible, it will most likely be for a few days. During this time, we will be moving all pets to new database tables and then updating the entire website to use these new tables.

Unfortunately, it isn't possible to do this while data is being transferred and changed. It will cause many issues and very likely could cause data to be lost.

Here are a few important details of this process:

-During the downtime, you will not be able to log in.
-During the downtime, pets will not age and they will not eat. However, recovery timers and mission timers will progress since they are based on timestamps.
-The Forums will remain visible during this time. I will update this post throughout the process.
-I really can't accurately estimate the downtime, but hopefully 3 days or less.


When everything is converted over and I get a chance to make sure everything functions properly, I will bring the Site back online.

Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding. I will complete the process as fast as I can and once it's finished, it will make it a lot easier for me to finish up the Stables and work on other pet-related features.

[5/22 at 10:05 AM] Still chugging away and still planning on unlocking the Site later today. Pretty much down to my last major feature (3rd region exploration) and then a few here and there's after that. But it shouldn't be too much longer! I still estimate that the Site will be unlocked late this afternoon or evening.

[5/21 at 4:00 PM] First update for today. Still making lots of progress. Still a bit to go, but the list is definitely getting shorter! There's still a chance I can finish by late tonight, but if not, definitely sometime Thursday. I'm also still debating on whether to switch the Stable system over to a new system or to wait on that. So if I do decide to do that, that will take a few extra hours. But all in all, things are going good and we're almost there! Thank you all so much for your patience thus far.

[5/20 at 9:35 PM] Made a lot more progress today. I've pretty much fixed the majority of the display errors. The Generator page, Stables, Hatchery, and most of the Pet Profile pages are finished. I will try to get all of the exploration related pages fixed up tomorrow and then all that will be left will be miscellaneous pages. At this point, I might be able to finish everything by late Wednesday night. If not, then most definitely sometime on Thursday. So hopefully not too much longer!

[5/20 at 5:15 PM] Just another update. Still chugging away. Unfortunately, there's still a lot of pages to be fixed up. I have been making pretty good progress so far. I've been trying to consolidate most of what I need to convert into general functions so that I can more easily fix up pages - but I had to create and test the functions first. All in all, progress is being made but still quite a ways to go. I'll update again later tonight.

[5/19 at 6:25 PM] We have finally copied over all of the data to the new tables and moved the old table. If you are browsing the Site (stables, profiles, etc), you will probably see many many errors atm. At this point, we have to go through page by page and change the code to look into the new places for the information instead of the old. So Stage 2 has begun. =P
