Hey everyone~ I was wondering how you name your pets when you're breeding? Currently I name mine like this guy; https://www.sylestia.com/view/pets/?petid=7720264
His name is just simply his traits, but honestly I'm not a huge fan of this and am wondering how others go about it. ^^

Hello,
The way I go about it is "Initial(s) of project & The Traits it has" Ex.
Since it tends to reach the character limit when it has all carries, I just put "All c".
& if there's any visible traits, I add G/M#v. Ex.
If it has a trait(s) that I'm looking for, but it's hidden, then I'll put "G/M#h".
If it has all visible traits, excluding one, then I'll put "All v ex G/M#c". Ex.
Hope this helped a bit (:

I know my answer will be an odd one, but since I've planned out every step of my project and know exactly what the end result's lineage will look like (which I've done to prevent inbreeding)... I name them based on their relation to either the end result, the result of their 3vis tree! So every name I have right now starts with 3G1, 3G2, 3G3, 3M1, or 3M2 (I need essences for 3M3 if you have any aeri essences please pm me ;-;) and end in GGGpa (great great grandpa) or GGma (great grandma) or the like! Here's the tab where the project lives if you want to see.
Eventually, after the 3vis trees are done, their names will just be GGGma, then Great Grandpa, then Mother, and everything in between ^^

I do like the way of that method! The reason mine is confusing (and I'm trying to change it) is because they arent labeled to which project they are, which makes it a headache in the breeding grounds.

I see! I think for your project, since you are aiming for no inbreeding, that would be the best way for you to go about it and to keep your pairs together and not accidentally have inbreeding haha. Thank you for sharing!

Mine is a bit different. When I first started breeding I quickly came to the conclusion that there was no way to name my project pets that captured all the information I needed in a way my brain could process correctly. So, I went old school and I have a notebook with my projects. Each piece of a paper is a project. Names are simple two letters denoting the project (i.e BI for blooming iris) and then a number. I write down the traits. In the margin I note total traits over visible traits and mother over father.
You could also do this on the computer (certainly save on erasers that way), but since I'm usually playing on my tablet the notebook works better for me. Plus, I enjoy writing. Doing it on the computer would allow for easy use of colors as well to help differentiate if you are very visual like I am.

I name my projects/random themes based off of their set and traits. I shorten the set, and inital the traits. So I do stuff like:
Amret TTvisBMc
Leg RMcSDc
etc.

It's very cool that you have the paitence to write it all down, especially when doing it by-hand. I don't mind the idea as far as typing, but it still sounds like a lot of work to me!

I think I took a look at yours and saw it before, and I liked this method as well! I actually created this forum because I saw someone name their breeding projects in a certain way and I REALLY liked it, so I was trying to find that one. I think yours is the most similar to the one I liked! It has all the info you need and very compacted. Sometimes my brain hurts from looking at the letters
