So, I've been getting into improving my digital art, and one thing I really feel like would help, would be a pressure-sensitive pen/tablet. But i have very limited funds right now, at most I would only be able to spend $150 USD. I don't want to just pick one on my own...'cause I have a feeling I'll screw up somehow. xD Could you all give me some suggestions? I've been looking at the "Intuos Pen and Tablet" from Wacom(Online only, so I haven't been able to test it. Which makes me nervous. xD)...and It looks good, but I dunnnooo! Help? Please?

Good luck with that!

I myself have a Bamboo Fun tablet, which is pretty cheap in the Wacom series. So I can't help you with Intuos at all.

I had a friend from work suggest a Bamboo! (And then yell at me because I was internet surfing instead of working. XP To which I replied with, "I'm on a break. I get those too, you know.") It's starting to look like the way I'll be going. :D Thank you for you input~!

Quite honestly I don't strive to improve my art Orz. Didn't come to purely love my bamboo fun. xD it will take getting used to, but good luck. c:

If you look at it at an internet gamer's view, the cost of a bamboo fun is like a small dent in a gamer's budget over a year. (150$ is like...1-3 wheel pets) so buying it experimentally isn't bad. c:

:P Well my hope in improving my art is that by the time I have a credit card or paypal or some means of online money transfer, (My mom's doesn't count. e-e) I'll be decent enough at art to start selling it for a few extra bucks to keep me afloat. I mean, if you're gonna do something that you love, why not get paid? XD

Yeah, normally $150 wouldn't be pushing at my limits as much as it is now, but I've had a lot of time off work and a lot of costs to cover. o-e" So yeah. No more time off for meee~XD

I just got the Intuos Pen and I LOVE it!!!!
I also just downloaded fireAlpaca as an art program (because GIMP is stupid with tablets) and I love that too! Well, minus the fact that you can't select a color using hex codes -.-

Anywho, Like I said, the Intuos Pen is really nice. I didn't get the Pen and Touch because for the years I had my other Bamboo tablet, I had touch disabled XD It's not too expensive either, just $80. And the wireless pack you can buy for it is beautiful. I thought it was going to be something extra sticking off the tablet, but there is a slot in the tablet where you rut the reciever and battery.

I would recommend it :D Though, if you are pretty good with a mouse, like I am, a tablet will take some getting used to. In fact, I still use my mouse for coloring because I"m more acurate with it and can stay in the lines easier.

Hope this helps!

Well, whatever you choose will be an upgrade from a mouse. :)

About my Bamboo, sometimes it will stop working when an update is needed (this actually happens all the time with another laptop). By stop working, I mean no touch-sensitive whatsoever, and if you keep the pen in contact with the tablet for more than a few seconds, it will function as a right click. Restarting will fix it. Sometimes the touch-sensitiveness stop working when the computer is really slow, but it will return to normal.

This happens far more with one laptop, for the other it barely happens. So it might never happen to you.

And when I first got my Bamboo, I wasn't happy that the touch-sensitive area only makes up less than 1/2 of the tablet area. It probably has other uses, but just looks like a lot of the extra area is just there to make it look big.

If it helps, I use a really old Wacom tablet, and it does the job well. I can't imagine how good an Intuos would be compared to the one I use! I imagine that an Intuos would be well worth your money, since any tablet is essentially going to help you.
