(I'm going to have it started during a quick break from riding if that's fine.)

It was late spring, a day after he and Daniel got separated from their gang. Floyd was currently staring off into the horizon, mulling the previous evening over. He twisted a blade of grass between his index finger and thumb, quiet for once. But it didn't last long, it never did with the chatty blond. Both his back and neck were sore from sitting in a saddle all night. Floyd groaned, rubbing his neck, trying to soothe it. "Why did we have to ride all night, West?", He fussed. "My back is killing me."
The blond dramatically flopped back into a boulder with a thud. Gus was just a few feet away, lazily grazing until they needed to be on the move again. Floyd sighed, shifting so his back had more support. He missed his tent and cot dearly, wishing he could have slept in them one last time.

"Flyod I've told you a million times by now that we have to keep moving otherwise the law will catch and kill us,'' Sniffing the air West looks around, "Flyod get up now! We got to move but be quiet about it whatever you do." West gets up with some difficulty not liking what he was detecting. Carefully he goes over to Lone Star who was grazing. Looking around Lone Star alerts on the movement nearby them. "Flyod if you value your life you will mount your horse and follow me otherwise I am leaving you here." He swings up on his horse's back and gallops off not even bothering with the saddle at this point.

Floyd stuck out his tongue after Daniel, annoyed with the harsh answer. He stood up with a grunt and climbed onto Gus who he was too lazy to de-saddle earlier. The horse was less than pleased to be interrupted and tried to shake him off. "What the- C'mon Gus, they don't resell horses owned by outlaws.", He grunted, trying to get the stubborn Turkoman to move.
The horse began to gallop after a moment of cursing and empty threats, quickly catching up with Daniel and Lone Star. Floyd was about to say something about the threat Daniel gave him but opted not to; remembering the warning to be quiet. His non-dominant hand was already twitching to gun for his revolver if the threat got any closer.

West glances behind them pulling out his gun muttering quietly, "Crap wish the horses had alerted us to that problem." Behind them the bushes moved faster and a wolf chases after them the wind blowing in the wolf's direction. After another minute a few more came out. After about five minutes there were twenty wolves. "And there goes any hope of us loosing them without alerting the law that was nearby. Why I told you to be uiet was I smelled wood smoke from a fire and if you haven't noticed we're by water which means that somewhere up or down this river it will either lead to a town, city, or homestead. Personally the last option in my opinion is the worst. Now think we can loose them without shooting?"

(good night)

Floyd gulped, glancing back a few times at the wolves. He wasn't a quick thinker, but he wasn't quick to panic either. Floyd was also still blown away by West's acute sense of smell, even after the years of knowing him. He wanted to grab his gun and shoot, but he also didn't need to be chased down by the law again. He also didn't know the area well either, so there was no hope in knowing if there was a landmark that could get them out of harm's way either.
"I could open a can of pork and drop it and they'll be distracted?", He suggested nervously.

(Good night!)

"Not a bad idea if you have some meat just don't drop it on your horse or on Lone Star," Noticing the look West replies, "I didn't smell them I saw one and you know the old saying where's there's one wolf the pack is nearby. Got anything else that might distract them?"
Lone Star put on an extra burst of speed smelling the wolves. He knew that his rider knew that he was tired but Lone Star didn't know if West knew just how tired. Hopefully the wolves would leave them alone soon otherwise there would be trouble.

About thirty miles away Desta sets up her campsite. She didn't light a fire knowing how dangerous that could be in the dark and how far away the light from a fire could be seen. Loki grazes calmly as Desta untacked him and let him loose around the campsite trusting that he wouldn't run off. Loki had several chances in his past to run away but hadn't once tried to run away from Desta or Duke. Duke on the other hand was digging in the dirt searching for bones or anything else of intrest.

"I'm not that clumsy.", He said, turning around all the way in his saddle.
He reached into his bag and pulled out a can of pork. Floyd popped the can open with a frown- he was going to eat this later. He leaned over the back of his horse and dumped the contents out on the path. After that, he threw the can just so they wouldn't be chased for the smell. Just then, Gus jerked out of the way of a rock in the path, nearly throwing Goose off. He yelped, grappling onto his horse, keeping to keep himself from falling off.
After a quick struggle, Floyd regained his balance. He sighed in relief then turned to glare at Gus. " Why couldn't you have done that when I was facing forward.", Floyd chided, as if he was going to get a response. He stayed turned backward, though, just in case he needed to do anything else.

West snorts trying to contain laughter, "Watch the wolves behind us if you can manage that. Also you can some food from my pack later on." Glancing behind them West notices the wolves fighting over the food and the can. Lone Star slows slightly worrying West, "Floyd how tired is Gus? We might need to stop and let the horses rest for the rest of the night soon. Lone Star can't keep this pace up for much longer." West's stomach growls slightly before he glances behind him again seeing the wolves. West planned for them to ride for an hour, "Once we get out of sight of the wolves we should ride in the water for a bit to make them loose the scent."

Goose sent a glare to West out of embarrassment, but it quickly lightened up at the mention of food. "Rodger.", He hummed, turning back to the fighting pack of wolves. He was concerned about why they were attacking them, usually, they just ignore humans.
"Huh? Oh, I guess he's just as tired as we are.", Floyd said. "He did carry me all night." He took a moment to pat his horse as a thank you. The blond relaxed a bit when they turned a corner on the path, losing sight of them.
"West, don't you think it's weird that they decided to go after us? It's not like food's scarce this time of year.", He muttered, Sitting up all the way so he could turn around.

"What I think is that the pack might have been chased away from their normal hunting grounds. Think about it when we were seperated from the gang we had to change too. Then again that wolf in the lead didn't look quiet right to me. What do you think?" West gently rubs his mount's neck. He gently guided his mount into the river and asked him to walk for a few minutes in the water, "Floyd how about we set up camp soon? Or at least walk the horses for a bit with us leading them on foot."
