I had a dream last night about this kinda place, I wrote down what I remembered from it. I don't have a name for it yet so any suggestions would be nice
OK, I made a map and I have all the cities, villages, castles, badlands, and significant parts of the land put down, there are 4 royal families including nobles and I think I finished mapping out the political system as well as adjusted laws from the medieval ages irl to fit the fantasy medieval age here - which is just on the edge of entering a steampunk era
In this world there are 8 known different types of magic (not listed in order of power) ;
1. Illusion - You can create mirages, the size, and accuracy of what you are making depends on your level, for example, if you're level one you can make 1ft x 1ft illusions with a 30%-40% chance of complete accuracy. Very good for distractions and gaining friendships with towns & villages if you do it right. Often used by con-artists or entertainers.
2. Healing - A good ability to have when traveling, not just for the ability to heal yourself but also if you meet anyone on the road you have a high probability of earning some currency if you help them. Level 1 only grants healing scrapes and small scratches. A very well regarded and sought-out ability, often used by those who work closely with royalty or nobles.
3. Beast Keeping - Grants you the ability to summon and befriend wild beasts at will, an extremely uncommon ability, personal guards with this power are well paid.
4. Oracle - The power of fortune-telling, clairvoyance, and foresight, level 1 include the ability to see anywhere from 10-30 minutes in the future. Often used by priests.
5. Animation - The power to bring inanimate objects to life, very useful for help with cleaning, cooking, building, or simply hanging around. Often used by traveling merchants to gather customers
6. Conjuring - The ability to conjure and interact with spirits, very good for exorcisms or just making a friend.. that only you can see.. and hear... uh oh. Often used by exorcists and can potentially earn a lot of money
7. Mimicry - Similar to illusionist magic, mimicry can make a.n exact copy of something - the difference is it can physically interact with the world. The ability to mimic, absorb, or steal the abilities or appearances of people, plants and animals, or even someone else's power if you are a high enough level. Often used by outlaws.
8. Potions - those who can't possess any 1 of the other 7 magics take to potion-making, it's not as easy as you may think and requires lots of herb gathering, as well as certain item drops from bosses, even though anyone can make potions it takes a lot of grinding and leveling to be good. Most make plenty of money in a day, it simply depends on where you set up shop and your level.
The people in this world are born with their ability - except for potion makers - you may choose yours but you can only stick to 1 magical ability. If you want a certain ability but you also want to do potion-making you can reach a high enough level to allow you to take on the additional power. this does not work with other magics. everyone starts out as level one, you can do many things to gain experience and skill points that aren't just fighting mobs and bosses[ i.e; befriending an NPC or even just using your ability)
players start out in their everyday 2021 life, in school, working, walking the dog, grocery shopping.. online, just their normal everyday stuff, until - in an instant - they find themselves in this unfamiliar land, all players will be teleported to different places on the map, you as the creator of the player does not get to choose the place and will not be shown a map of the entire landscape as that would take away from the traveling experience, however when you reach the achievement of going through every major area you get a map.. I am evil this way.
Speaking of evil you may be wondering "but Amaniii you beautiful gorgeous handsome intelligent perfect soul, who is the antagonist of this world?" GREAT question, unfortunately, you'll have to figure that out from an NPC.. I am also evil this way and do not want to spoil the entire storyline if people are interested.
The only major spoiler I feel is extremely necessary is that the 8 main magical abilities are not the only ones in this world and your character CAN have one, though I'd prefer if not everyone's character had one of these mysterious powers.
If you got questions about any of this please ask, any suggestions would also be great. If asked I can explain skill-points, achievements, leveling, etc, or if you're really in the mood to read I can detail the political system for you as well as the royal families, conflicts, the badlands (which I'm really excited about) and really anything else you want to know that isn't too spoiler-y.

do you have any suggestions for it? I know the basic plot is a lot like some other rpg's I've played and stories I've read (my subconscious is not very creative) and while the inner details are somewhat "unique" I understand that it's quite generic at the core and I want to improve it as much as possible.
[though I will add that the political system and government structure is impeccable - by which I mean detailed as heck and I'm proud of it - and I am desperate to talk about it so... y'know... if ya wanna..)

[Sure]
For a few suggestions I would add different routes depending on the choices a character would make in the RPG. For example if they do many bad things the route is that they may become evil or they do many good things and saves their world they are considered a hero but these are suggestions and most of the MC in rpgs that I played are always the hero so it would be nice and a refresher for the Mc to be a bad guy.

Oh I actually took that into consideration, at first I was thinking of this more as an interactive story than an RPG (there is a difference, but if I get into that I will be up late), and I kind of wanted some pretty easy options at first, and since most people would probably want to be the heroine of the story I planned out some potential options and eventually made the action options a lot harder to choose between and I planned it all to come to one single ending where the MC realizes that - in their attempt to be a hero in the eyes of the people - they had become not just a villain, but a monster, but then I realized that that probably wouldn't go over well with mostly younger kids as players so I kinda just scrapped it.
Some parts of it I still really like though.

True on the kids part and them not taking it well and liking some of it. Honestly I would go with what you want to do in an Rpg but also take reference from other Rpg or novels similar to rpg and take inspiration from them and all that for doing an RPG that's appropriate for the younger kids that play on sylestia.

Well, there's really no way to avoid conflict in this world, I mean for obvious reasons there would already be political tension between royal families over land distribution and fertile farmland as well as other minor & major altercations - which is something I'll get into another time - I also feel like some parts of side-quests or just general plot information could potentially become boring for the younger kids since it wouldn't all be action or fighting or drama and I don't plan on much romance either. Everything is subject to change right now but I already know that if the story is just constant brawls or drama instead of background information to back it up that it would just become uninteresting altogether. I want to figure out a way for it to be fun for all ages but that's really hard to do without excluding a lot of important information that gives the plot more meaning than just "these characters are bad, must defeat and save the world" when it's way different than that and all the NPC's have so much more depth than that would allow me to show. What do you think?

I think that is a great Idea since it would also give the NPC's characters and how they came to be and it would make the plot more interesting with that.

The thing I'm worried about is its appeal to both the younger kids as well as those who are older, littles get bored easily and I know even I sometimes feel like the battle parts in stories or RPG's get a little tedious, maybe I'm overthinking it, but I want it to be something people really like. I'll obviously adjust minor detail points and the parts I think are too generic, that's already a given, and one day I want to make my own creations here actual video games instead of something on a thread so I wanna figure out most details now rather than later.

True on that and it is hard to make an RPG for all ages and that is a good idea to do it now then do it later.
