What does defeating the mycenoid army do? IE: the mushrooms

which mycanoid army are we talking about?
going by your level... do you mean one of the Area Raids (which one is it the mycanoids are in... fungus grove's? hm)?

Assuming you mean the Area Raids, those happen once every few hours in one of an assortment of areas. You cannot access/progress in that area until the event has ended. The raids are a global event, meaning all users participating (read: fighting in that area) are affecting the same event progression.
You get some reputation points for the town of the region the raid took place in, and if you placed in the top 5 scores of participants you get some reward satchels
