I have this idea where you pick what you want to feed you pet

each food items corrisponds to their species

like for example, for a zolnixi to feed it will be a wild zazzlefruit

An interesting idea, but I'm not sure what the point would be? Would we then have to go hunting/scavenging for said special foods? Or would we just buy the food? And if we bought the food, how would it be different from what we do now of just paying for our pets to be fed in the stables?

Personally, I would not like to complicate the feeding feature. Pressing a button to feed all my pets (or setting up the stablehand once every two weeks to do it for me) is easy and lets me focus on the fun aspects of the game, rather than tedious gathering tasks just to make sure my pets are fed so I can breed them or battle with them.

As a fantasy aspect, maybe as part of the species bio, though, it could be neat. Would change literally nothing in the day to day, but could add some fun lore bits.

Alternatively, these special foods could be used in a later iteration of the tracking hut in the lost grove, where using the special food would further increase the likelihood of finding a certain species of wild sylestie.

Anyway, just some thoughts and opinions about the stated idea and some other ideas riffing on it ^.^

Sorry, but no thanks.

Gryffs has this system where each gryff eats only two types, and all gryffs will eat apples and pears. While it isn't that bad there as there are limited number of species, I still can't remember off the top of my head what gryff eats what.

FR has something like this as well, where they divide their food into four different types and each dragon eats 1, 2, 3, or all food types. Again, it is handled there because food is plentiful and you don't hve to worry about specific types, just points and category.

I wouldn't really want to see it here, because there are a LOT of different species, so that would be a LOT of different food that would need to be created and fed, and remembered which species eats which.

Also, beyond that, would this replace regular feeding, and if not, what is the point really?

I do agree that perhaps these foods could be used in different ways, perhaps there could be a way, as said, to use them in the tracking hut, or perhaps they could be used to slightly raise your chances of being able to capture a pet with a trap, but not as a feeding solution.

I don't think a change to the feeding system would fit here on Sylestia. It works in Flight Rising because there's a specific area to find food, but that wouldn't work here. Even if it's simple like carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores, it could force players into certain play-styles, or just make it harder to feed pets.

Sorry, but I'll also have to disagree on this one. Basically any game where you have to feed each pet/species/creature/element a different kind of food generally just complicates the whole mess. I've see a few games where it worked out well, like FR, where you just fight a couple battles and get a ton of food, but I really don't see it working on sylestia. As a pet-specialized boost of some sort, sure. But not as the entire system.
