So - just doing one at a time here - I am looking at Pet ID #6189496.

I am not quite sure what you're saying. The original pet's Traits were:

4 Visible Traits
1 Carried Trait
2 Hidden Carried Traits

Looking at what it's eligible for, it can choose the following:

1 = Visible, 2 = Carried, 3 = Hidden

Given the options, it can choose a Visible Trait from 5 different slots, a Carried Trait from 5 different slots, and has 3 options for a Hidden Carried Trait.

To me, everything seems correct.

The issue for me is that the pet goes from 3 genes and 2 mutations, to 3 mutations and 2 genes. It still keeps the overall number of traits, yes, but the type distribution has changed.

Even with traits being split and shuffled, shouldnt a 3-gene pet be able to maintain 3 genes? Instead it's been reduced to a 2-gene.

I think it's because the mutations were split into multiple slots. Despite starting with only 2 mutations, the pet now has 3 mutation options (with an additional one added from say, M1 moon armor being split into M1 and M3) so the coding is taking away one of the gene slots instead.

Not necessarily a big issue for me currently since I have finished Nytes as well, but should this setup become the foundation for every revamp in the future I'd rather point put any disreprency I see. Might cause some issues for those in the early stages of a project. (IE, I often name pets along the lines of G123 M13; if I suddenly can't regen the G2 and the pet spontaneously gains an extra mutation, the name will forever be wrong and I'll be breeding it to an ill-suited mate. Also would impede a project that was intended to have all 3 genes.)

We've never deciphered between Genes and Mutations as separate categories; we just consider Traits as Traits and Traits as Trait Points. Granted, this is probably a first situation where something like this actually comes into direct play.

That said, there really isn't much I can do about this. It would be exceptionally complicated if I were to somehow add in a way to categorize Genes vs Mutations rather than just everything as Traits/Trait Points. It'd be even moreso complicated doing it retroactively after already allocating everything out for the Nytekrie.

So unfortunately, I don't really think this is something I can do, but I will keep this in mind for the next species revamp to see if there's anything I can do with this.
