Topside: topside mer are mer that live in the upper most levels of the ocean (daylight and twilight zone), mostly found in the open oceans, secluded bays and coral reefs. These mer are bright and colorful, with tails either mimicking the markings of a fish or simply being one solid bright color.

Deepsea: these mer are found deeper in the ocean (midnight zone and ocean floor) and tend to come in darker colors, making them blend in with their surroundings. This is good for them, as they have many predators. Deepsea mer (along with topside mer) may have a tail reminiscent of a shark or dolphins, these are simply referred to as shark fin mer and no distinction is made between topside or deep-sea.

Cecaelia: these mer can be found in both the topside and deep-sea populations, and instead of a tail they have the tentacles and mantle of a squid or octopus. They are unable to change color, however. It is unknown if they are rarer than other types of mer or simply better at hiding due to half their body not having bones.

Poaching: poaching is a massive issue within the mer population, as not only does a single mer contain enough meat to make multiple meals, contain both meat and fish, and have scales that can be made into products, but some religious groups believe them to have mystical properties. Measures have been taken to stop poaching, including making hunting mer illegal, breeding mer in captivity, and flooding the market with fake products at a lower price.

Migration: mer do not have instinctual migration patterns, though those in pods may have migration patterns they pass down from generation to generation via word of mouth or going on said migration together.

MPS: the MPS or the Mer Protective Services is a organization dedicated to the research and protection of Mer, funding research facilities and advocating for laws that make it illegal to hunt mer and to own mer without the proper license

ouroboros


Gabriel - Gabriel is one of many gods who made the universe, specifically the god of the dead, snakes and resurrection. he has two snakes, a melanistic ball python named ebony and a milk snake named Catalina. these snakes are taken care of by the staff when Gabriel isn't around.

ebony and Catalina - these two snakes are thousands of years old, and don't seem to age. other than this, the snakes appear to be normal.

the staff- the staff that take care of Gabriel's home have been there since he relocated tot he area in the mid 1800's and do not age unless they leave their service, in which they will resume aging at a normal pace from the age when they came into their service.

the garden - the garden surrounding the mansion is large and stretches around the entire estate, and is filled with lush greenery and fruits and berries of all sorts. this is the original garden of eden, and was created for Gabriel by Mercy, the god of life in Mesopotamia in the beginning of the worlds creation.

The Queens of each kingdom have come together in one of the cities in Qadia to negotiate a solution, and they are have come to a decision that will change everything; sending a group of ten people to the one place in the world the magic cannot touch, the magicless forest.

no one who has entered the forest has come back to tell the forest, in fact, the forest is s dangerous that it is illegal to enter it. however, now it may be our only chance. this group of ten select individuals will be sent off into the forest with the supplies to build the first ever settlement in the magicless forest, and should they successfully do this, they will build a large tower in the center, with a fire on top, and burn it so everyone can see.

The kingdom of Qadia:

this kingdom, like most others, is comprised of one species. This species is the prymidea, a species of humanoid shapeshifters. Their main form is that of a human, with nothing being able to discern their species from any of the others. Their secondary form, however, is that of a cat. This can range within any type of domestic house cat, though not wild breeds.

the food here is very flavorful, with most traditional dishes being very spicy. this can be difficult for characters from other countries, as they do not have access to the same spices and therefore flavors as the inhabitants of Qadia do.

the people here live together with their extended families, with multiple generations living in one house hold. however, they do not care about bloodlines, with most families having multiple adopted family members in each generation.

Baecuria Empire:

this species is the only one whos inhabitants are not able to shapeshift. They are bound to one form; with the top half of a human and the bottom half of a snake. They are not cold blooded, but are inclined to prefer warmer climates.

the food in this kingdom is very mild, focusing more on nutritional value rather than appearance or flavor. the people here are focused on community, with large community gardens and community centers where people can get together and talk. they do not believe in families, simply choosing a new mate once a year and hiding their eggs in a secure spot, where they will join the community when they hatch.

Laedon empire:


the laedon empire is composed of two species; a form of shape shifter that shape shifts into some sort of bird, whether it be a tropical bird or something like a sparrow or woodpecker. and a breed of shapeshifters called Panthera onca, who shape shift into Jaguar. despite the massive differences in the species, the two get along very well and live together in the same cities, and even sometimes households.

the food here is made for beauty, with many brightly colored fruits making up the dishes, adorned with pretty garnishes. bloodlines are VERY important with these two species, with bloodlines being tracked religiously from mother to child.


Loterra Dynasty:

this dynasty is home to two species, both shapeshifters; the Hyaenidae and the Panthera leo. The Hyaenidae are a breed of shapeshifter that can shift into hyena, while the panthera leo are shapeshifters that shift into lions.

the food in this kingdom is made with love, with recipes being passed down from mother to child for generations, with an emphases not on taste, look, or even nutrition, the food is based on good memories and being made together with family. the families here are composed of two or three couples and their children living together in a village.



The magicless Forrest:



the magicless forest is not inhabited by anyone on account of the lack of magic. For some reason, the magic that controls the rest of the world refuses to settle in this area. The animals there are odd, they do not follow the rules of the rest of the world, they are not bound by the laws of magic.

all characters are given the basic enhancements; speed, strength and agility. this makes them stringer, faster and more agile of course, and it also makes them require more food and water than normal.

Jack is given a visor as his special weapon, and later gets a letterman jacket with the number "76" on the back.

Konrad is given a pair of electrically charged batons that must be used with a specialized pair of black gloves with rubber in them so the wearer doesn't get shocked.

Alastor is given a eye piece that helps him track people and things

reverie is given the ability to withstand small doses of fire, and three spheres that provide her with some gas and sparks to light a fire.

Gabriel was given a pair of shotguns and an alternate mode of travel that only works as long as he can hold his breath.
