Does this work like all genes/mutations are essentially recessive and it will take both parents having the same visible traits in order for the trait to be passed down to 100% of the offspring?
Would it then be a 25% chance an offspring will show a visible trait if both parents carry the gene?
Do carried traits have a chance of becoming visible if just one parent carries it and the other does not have it at all?
Sorry for the question bombs; would like to find these things out before I even try breeding.

Yes, all mutations and genes are recessive in this game.
Yep, 25% chance.
Nope.
let f be a recessive allele and let _ be no carrieds at all.
so a parent which shows a gene will have ff.
a parent which carries a gene will have f_.
So, if one parent carries the gene (f_), the other does not show or carry the gene (__), the offspring with either be
f_ or __
which carries the gene or does not carry anything.
Also, if one parent shows the gene (ff) and the other does not carry anything (__), all offspring will have f_, and so they are all carriers.
You can check the guides section for breeding guides like these: http://www.sylestia.com/forums/?t=370
Or you can look up on biology about Mendelian genetics and inheritance because the game follows it.
