you can use revival draughts and elixirs in battle, but not potions. there are health and mana elixirs, though, same as potions so they serve the same purpose.

Pets attuned to certain elements, specifically Shadow, Light, and, I believe, Water, also end up with some form of healing ability at higher levels, too.
