(I will try to keep the roleplay as clean as possible, but there will be mentions of violence/body horror.)
You had decided to watch the news for once, curious about the sudden amount of posts bringing up that theory about imposters amongst humanity. You got on right after a weather report:
"Thank you Jed, now for today's news; Remember the Uncanny Valley theories where theorists suspected why people weren't big fans of things that look way too human? Well my friend, sadly these claims might be true, shapeshifters have been appearing amongst crowds, on surveillance, and in the background of pictures.
Usually it's a person in the background, their face contorting strangely or a feature changing in a matter of moments. These claims have gotten much stranger when a man from Mason City, Iowa claimed that he stumbled apon a woman in an alleyway eating something unidentifiable. He claims that her eyes weren't feral like that of a drug addict, but like a predator. He also said she had to many sharp teeth, too long of a tongue, and her jaw seemed unhinged. Others have claimed similar instances, a woman in Chicago, Illinois claimed to step onto a subway, walking in on a man in a black hoody, sitting in the right corner of the cab, most features undesirnable other than two luminated eyes, sharp white teeth and he seemed to be cleaning his tongue. She simply stepped out, before anything else could happen." A few renditions of these creatures appeared on screen. The woman on the screen decided to crack a joke at her co-host. "These remind me of the game my son used to play, what was it?"
"Among Us?" , The man suggested, which earned an ah-ah from the woman. That was when you had enough news for today and decided to turn off the tv.
Hello! Welcome to Uncanny! I made this because I was reading a little too much and got inspired! So, the plot starts in 2025, not much has changed technology wise, most of it stalled by one last uproar of Covid before 2023.
You are either a young adult human or an Uncanny. (I will put a limit on the Uncanny, though because we don't need all of the characters that way.) The Uncanny are kind of based on the Imposters from Amung Us, but they're much more human than a black mass of alien. The Uncanny are also based on the discomfort of seeing something that's almost human but isn't. They can flesh-shift, they aren't at all like werewolves, Fleshgaits, or Skinwalkers. The Uncanny are evolved cousins of humans that were once thought to be Vampires, or ancient predators of humans that were theorized to exist. Most try to fit in and be normal, despite the fact that they can fall from ten stories up and end up fine. Some of which allow themselves to be caught just for laughs, others are actually crazy, taking up basic instinct and eating anything small with a heart beat. Some of the average Uncanny take time to get rid of the actual threats to society.
If you choose to be an Uncanny, you will most likely be a Feral Hunter, going so far out of the way to protect a threat to your existence simply because you find humans entertaining or cute.
Human characters in the roleplay are going to end up stumbling upon an Uncanny one way or another. Most likely by accident. But because the species is trying to be as secretive as possible about it, they are probably going to try and keep the character quiet. Methods very, just try not yo get jumped by a Feral.
