(WARNING: This roleplay might indeed become a little alarming for some at a few points in the roleplay!)

Parry is a small village on Parry island with a population of sixty; the same old buildings standing and being lived in since the island was built upon. The island and the waters around it have been known for their high levels of supernatural activity. Despite this and the presumed cult lurking in the woods covering the island, the locals live their lives rather normally. They have a small school with about thirty kids all together.
Most parents are extremely strict about curfews, trying to round the young ones in before dark. Parties are always shut down before they start. If the kids want to go to a party they often hop onto their friend's boat and go to the mainland; about three miles from Parry. (Hoping that the local tales aren't true)

Just when the adults started to relax on curfews a Jane Doe, presumed to be thirteen-year-old Lori Cerise, had gone missing exactly forty-eight hours before her estimated time of passing- further information has not yet been disclosed. The adults might become more restless, especially around the woods- but that can't keep you and your friends trying to find out what's really going on and if you can trust your parents.

Hello, everyone- this is Parry Island, a roleplay set on a fictional island just off the coast off of Washington. It is covered in trees with only thirty percent of it being the village. The time zone is in the late seventies to play on the old mystery shows/retro cryptid posters. (I also think old cameras are neat.)
Your characters are in high school and the latest event has piqued their interest- some of which have been studying the beasts in the waters and woods since their father made the mistake of letting them get ahold of the strange town paper. Some of your characters may begin to feel untrusting of their adult figures, wondering why they sweep the issue under the rug while at the same time keeping them basically under lock and key. So your characters have taken it upon themselves to find out and expose their town's secrets, accidentally getting sucked into something... Much bigger.

Rules!
> There will be some strife aloud. Just don't make it into a giant scene without my permission.
> Romance is allowed, but please, carry it onto the PMs if it's going to get too much.
> Character limit is two per person
> Please use semi-literate grammar.
> I will control major plot points; if you have suggestions, feel free to say.
> Two sentences+ per reply, please!
> Respect the other players, I don't need any issues.
> Get into the roleplay and have fun with it! But I will put updates for scene changes.
> The roleplay is set in the 70s, meaning no cellphones or modern technology! (Meaning following their fashion trend and we get to use their slang- which excites me.)
> Characters must also fit the genre or I will retain the right to decline their form.
> My character's dog Toad is the only pet involved in the roleplay due to the play on Scooby-Doo. (Sorry)

Appearance:
Raine stands at 5' 3" and wears the early versions of what we call goblincore, seldom wearing shoes unless in school or messing around in old buildings.

Name:
Raine Casanova

Age:
Fifteen

Gender:
Feminine

Sexuality:
Pansexual

Personality:
Raine is a very adventurous yet quiet teenager. Despite being quiet, she often sticks up for herself some times going out of her way to show that the person has no power over her. She is especially weird because her mother had raised her to express herself so she has maximum gremlin energy and will constantly show it.
Though, Raine doesn't get attached to things because she and her mother had lived in a renovated bus since she was three and they never stayed long anywhere. She has a constant complex to push away potential friends even if she wants them, her excuse being that she's fine being alone and that her mom and dog were enough.
When somebody can get to the actual Raine she portrays her venturous and creative side. She's not at all weary and gloats about how nothing can scare her and that she doesn't know what people talk about when they talk about the island's mysteries. Though she always has her trusty camera, just in case she finds anything interesting.

Likes:
> Visual arts. (Photography, painting, etc.)
> The Beatles. (Her mother raised her on them.)
> Plain clothing.
> Foraging. (She can identify every plant in the book.)
> Horror movies/books.
> Pie, any pie will do.
> Sleeping bags. (Cosey)

Dislikes:
> Shoes. (She has one pair.)
> Warm weather. (Hot Summers in the Bus were the worst.)
> Pushy people.
> Wide spaces. (She's used to a small bus.)
> Taffy. (It sticks to the roof of her mouth.)
> Getting attached to people

Strengths:
> She's numb to scary subjects.
> She could probably sass anyone out if she wanted.
> Knows every word to almost every Beatles song.
> Her Caucasian Shephard, Toad. (Literally, he's huge, even for his breed's standards.)
> Herbology nerd to her fullest.

Weaknesses:
> Because she doesn't scare easily she can get herself into very dangerous situations.
> She isn't at all traditional compared to other girls her age.
> She doesn't wear shoes so she could get stabbed in the foot with glass.
> She always expects her mother to pack everything up and leave.

Backstory:
Raine never knew her father because he left after he found out her mother was carrying her. Thankfully her mother decided to keep her and raise her to be self-proficient. At the age of three, her mother decided to buy an old school bus, renovate it, and move around the country and create art. Due to the nomadic state she and her mother went into, Raine never had friends for long. After a little over a decade of moving around, her grandfather (Who had fallen weak) reached out to them and called for them to care for them.

Family:
> Her mother, Dahlia Casanova (34), Her artist mother who moved from Parry with Raine when she was young, looking for a muse.
> Frank Cassanova/Old Man Cassanova (68), A grumpy and eccentric old man who lives in the oldest building In Parry.
> Toad (3), Her Caucasian Shephard, best friend, and guard. He's big enough to take down a bear and never leaves Rain's side.

Love Interest:
None, open

Theme:
Angel Eyes and Basketball by Foot Ox

Equipment: (This all fits in her bag)
> An old Polaroid Camera.
> Film.
> A dog whistle.
> Shoes.
> A Notebook and some pencils.
> Small jars of herbs.
> A book of herbs.
> And a switchblade that only comes with her when she goes out in the woods.
> A miniature sewing kit.
> A couple of tiny bones in a pouch.
> A coin purse.

Other:

He stands at 5'11. Due to his parents, he dresses like everybody else with no self-expression. (Though, when going out, he dawns the rebellious attire that he hides in a box under his floorboards.)

I have a few questions 1. Are new roleplayers welcome or do you want more experienced ones? 2. Is there a sheriff or some sort of police captain, whatever it's called, and 3. If there is, are you ok with someone being the child of them? Cool idea btw!

Yes, new roleplayers are welcome as long as they have a tad bit of experience in creative writing! There is in fact a Sheriff, I'm sorry I didn't allude to them. Lastly, yes you may have your character be the child of the Sheriff, it would be really cool.
(Thank you!)
