Edit: 4. I can't defeat the bandit boss in the Fungus Grove. I brought another party slot but I still can't do it.

2. Exp orbs, battle, and doing missions are ways to get exp/levels for pets.

3. Egglings and Hatchlings have their growth sped up by players correctly nurturing them. Every 6 correct nurtures on an eggling or 4 on a hatchling will speed up their age timer by 1 additional hour

4. Your party is Iridescent and Wispleaf?
Iridescent in Slot 1, Wispleaf in slot 2
Might want to grind up Wispleaf's level a bit
Neither of them have Equips aside from Iridescent's Newbie's Mundane Relic- you'll want to upgrade their equips to full sets, preferably rare/epic rarity, lv10-15. Assassin gear (str/agi) for Iridescent, Myrmidon (str/dex) for Wispleaf
Equips are a large part of a pet's battle success and lacking them is a severe detriment to their battle prowess
