I think that many of us players here on Sylestia has, at one point or another, needed a dictionary of the themed. so here is my idea. I think that we need a Dictionary of the themed.
It could go in social menu thingy.
when you click Dictionary of the themed, the page would list the different dictionaries. There would be one for each creature, one for Rikkis, one for Kelps, etc.
Then when you click on one of the dictionaries, it would have dictionaries in that. One for all themed of that creature (which would at the top have the alphabet so you can click the latter you want), one for winter fest, summer fest, etc., one for LG themed, etc.
Please post below with your opinion and any suggestions for the Dictionary. Thank you Krin for all the hard work you have put into this site!
Suggestions so far:
@Jemadar -Though speaking of difficulty updating, depending on the code, it might not even be that hard to code something to automatically update the theme list. IE, have it where it can be run (or automatically run) and it checks for new themes and then adds them to the correct places.

I would love something like this.
The advanced search is nice, but it can be overwhelming with all the themes, and it also doesn't differentiate between *dyed* themes and non-dyed themes. I remember I was looking for a theme once, don't even remember what one, or why, to plug into the generator for colors, and I found several, but all of them had the 'this pet is eligible to have its colors updated' text. For all I know, one color could have been changed or all of them, and without buying the pet and reverting its colors, I couldn't find out what the original colors of that theme were.
the advanced search is also faulty in that it relies on there being at least one of those pets on site. If I recall, aren't there some LG themes that don't exist as pets?
In the future, we might get even more themes that, whether announced, or left as a 'treasure hunt' type scheme, will take a while for the first pet of that theme to show up.
At that point we are left with having to go through old announcement threads hoping to find where those themes were released, or waiting for an annoucement to be released.
This would also be helpful because the Advanced search doesn't tell you WHERE those themes are originally found. LG themes can be found at any time, but they are given no special indicator to show that they are, in fact, LG themes. The Blazing Fireworks theme seems to be coming back every year (which I love), but again, there is no indicator that the theme is obtained through the patriotic event.
Same thing with the festival themes.
Then there are the themes that are from events that don't come back, such as Tyrelle's minions.
Basically, the AS is good if you want to find a theme to buy, but for anything further than that, it can be very limited, and so having an encyclopedia that would be able to give the colors of the theme, where/how that theme is obtain and whether or not the theme is 'retired' would be very useful.
Sometimes, especially with restricted themes and trait sets (I think that may have been what I was looking for above, a restricted trait theme to see what it originally looked like, but many of that theme have been dyed) it is fun to play around with their traits or see the colors, but the Advanced search isn't always helpful in that regard.

at the moment Shadowized is working on a theme guide that is basically this (here- I look forward to seeing it done! There's a lot of work put into it, though a lot yet to do), but it would be pretty neat if we got like... an official archive form of the Themed Pet List we now get each fest
(also
> so far as I know all lg themes have been caught, including all ferrikki and nephini themes
> there's lists of the lg themes pinned in the Pet Sharing and Design Discussion forum which is faster than trawling the past news posts
> I have images of the official colours of every Majestic Theme recorded in the Guide to Restricted Traits and Majestic Themes if you ever need to check what one looks like)

Ah, thank you, I thought there was a glowworm? neph theme that hadn't been caught yet, but I don't keep up on the LG themes as those pets are scary :P
While I love player run guides, my feelings are, and this isn't just on Sylestia, there are some things that are better as 'official' guides, because players can lose interest, quit, or fall behind on updating guides. There are also some things that players can't do with regards to a forum based guide, such as add more 'reserved' posts at the beginning of the guide if need be etc...
Sadly, I have seen a trend, in single player offline games and more, towards not giving indepth manuals/tutorials/guides, because the developers know that soon a player run 'wiki' will spring up soon that will answer most questions. While this is fine, sadly those wikis aren't always the most helpful, and sometimes they can be woefully out of date, especially for sites like sylestia that are going to be updated near constantly throughout the years. *has played games where she has become incredibly frustrated by trying to find out answers to basic questions such as 'what does this button do' 'what weapons fall under what category' and things like that*

well, we didn't used to have the Themed Pet List at all, so who knows! We can be hopeful that we MIGHT get some sort of an official Theme Encyclopedia someday

Yeah, I know :)
I am hoping, I love things like that, because I have often wished to know where a particular theme comes from or what a particular theme looks like, and as Isaid in my other post, the advanced search is nice, but not always useful.
Another site I play has somewhat the same issue. There is a LOT of apparel on it, and I have often wanted to know where a particular piece or set of apparel comes from, but it doesn't have updated lists (it has some lists, but they can easily get behind), though, like here, it is the work of one or two people, so I can easily understand how it can become very difficult to update manually.
Though speaking of difficulty updating, depending on the code, it might not even be that hard to code something to automatically update the theme list. IE, have it where it can be run (or automatically run) and it checks for new themes and then adds them to the correct places.
