(Nightpaw) I wake up in my den on a sunny morning and wall out looking for my mentor

Swanfeather

Swanfeather streaches before padding out of the warrior's den in search of her apprentice. She approaches nighpaw outside the apprentice's den.

"We're taking the morning hunting patrol" She informs him. "But I need to organize the rest of the day's patrols first. Wait by the camp entrance, I'll be over in a minute" She starts over to the center of camp where cats are waiting for their assignments

Willowmist

Willowmist walks out of the Medicine den and grabs a couple of minnows before re-entering her den to sort herbs. She eats quickly, and starts checking which herbs are fresh and which need to be replenished.

snowkit was still sleep curled up into a ball

(Nightpaw) "yes swanfeather!" I say excited to hunt

Swanfeather

Swanfeather begins assigning patrols.

"Acornfoot, gather some warriors for a border patrol, Juniperberry and Blinkstep perhaps" She continues assigning roles, then pads back over to Nightpaw.

"Ready?" She asks


Willowmist

Willowmist mentally takes note of what she needs to replace or replenish and goes to leave camp. On her way out, she passes Swanfeather and Nightpaw, and nods a greeting.

Acornfoot

After receiving his assignment, Acornfoot goes to find some others for patrol. He takes Swanfeather's suggestion and starts by asking Juniperberry and Blinkstep.

(Nightpaw) "Ready!" I say excitedly

Swanfeather

Swanfeather smiled and nods.
"Good" she answers, "Let's go" she dips her head in a response to Willowmist's greeting and turns to lead Nightpaw out of camp.

"We're going to practice hunting voles today," she informed him, glancing over her shoulder to make sure he was keeping up. she slowed her pace a bit.

(Nightpaw) I pay close attention to what swanfeather is saying

Finally snowkit got to her paws and stretched letting out a squeaky meow before waddling over to the entrance of the kit den 'hmmm what shall i do' she made sure the coast was clear before waddling out into the open

Swanfeather

"Now, when hunting voles, or the occasional mouse, you want to make sure all your weight is in you haunches when you crouch." Swanfeather demonstrates the hunting crouch. "Remember, voles are sensitive and will feel your pawsteps through the ground. Carefully move forward, and once you are close enough, pounce" She demonstrates the pounce on a nearby leaf. "Once you have the vole, kill it quickly so it can't escape." She leads Nightpaw to an area, and points out a vole near the river bank.

"Try it on that one" She tells him "remember, low to the ground"
