so I bought a angelic fire dancer genetic mutator hoping to use it on my angelic to get more traits but it didn't work and didn't work on my water dancer and then tried it on my cave crystal and it worked but I didn't think it would work. so now my cave crystal has angelic fire dancer horns that is visible trait. Is my cave crystal caring a rare trait?

I'm not really sure what you mean by "add more traits" but you used a fire dancer disruptor (since those mutators don't exist) so it should take away one of the current traits and put one of those traits instead. If you were using it on your angelic fire dancer and water dancer it wouldn't work since they already have traits from that restricted trait set. I'm not sure why your tying "rare trait" into this since it doesn't really make a difference but if your pet has a red asterisk next to one of the traits then that means it has a restricted lost grove trait .

To clarify some things:
- There is no such thing as an "angelic fire dancer mutator"- you'll mean a "fire dancer disruptor"

- Disruptors do not work the same way as Mutators

- You would not have been able to use a Fire Dancer Disruptor on an Angelic Fire Dancer lupora in any case

- No, your Cave Crystal is not carrying/hiding a Rare Trait.

Mutators add a new trait to a pet (if it's a lesser genetic mutator, this can be either +1 (a carry) or +2 (a vis). If Greater or Restricted, +2 (vis). If vis, there will never be a Hidden)
Restricted Disruptors however, function by taking the 2tp of a visible trait that the pet has a reassigning them as trait of the associated Disruptor.

There are many rules on how RTDs function but the ones relevant here:
RTDs cannot override other Restricted traits (so if the Cave Crystal had an LG Rare Trait as a Hidden trait, it could not override that trait slot)
RTDs cannot be used on pets that already have a trait of that disruptor in their genetics
(both of these rules mean that no Majestic pet can ever have an RTD used on them, as they have no non-Restricted traits that can be used for tp (and you can't Mutate Majestics to GET non-Restricted tp on them since all Majestics are Exclusive and Mutators only work on Tamed pets), and even if your angelic fire dancer did have a viable trait, it wouldn't work as it already has at least one Fire Dancer trait)

(for more, see the guide to Restricteds and Majestics post 4 which covers all the RTD rules)

I belive you may have missunderstood what the word carried mean on sylestia so in short a carried trait is a trait that exist in your pet's genetic but dosn't appear on them, you can only see them if the pet was tested in witch case they will appear in green in their genetic.

If what you ment when you asked the question was if the trait you just gave her is rare, the short answer is yes, sort of. The use of a distruptor is to allow players to have a way to get restricted traits onto their projects/themmeds pets that normaly would nead alot of work to (or flat out coudn't for 90% of the themmes) get those trait sets into their lineages.

The fact that you use it on a themmed make it rare for said themme as those distruptors are not cheep and so are not widely used. If you would have used it on a non-themmed however, the trait woudn't have been nearly as rare as it is possible to simply breed with a pet from one of the few themmes that get this set naturaly to get a similar result witch isn't possible when breeding for purebreed offspring. ^-^
