I know how to do them as one big picture, but I don't know how to put the pictures beside each other. What the coding for that?

it depends on the images. If it's sylestia pet or avatar images, they'll fit side-by-side if you make them &size=250 or less (more fit the smaller the images are obviously- 250 fits two images of the same width)
it's the same for all other images sylestia or not- if they're small, no problem, but for large ones it can't fit them so it just visually pushes it to the next line down (it's just that we can only adjust the size of the sylestia pet and avatar images via the &size= url addition and other images don't have that on this site.)
(with the small images, it's just a matter of not having an enter break between them, so they're
[*IMG]URL[/IMG*][*IMG]URL[/IMG*] or [*IMG]URL[/IMG*] [*IMG]URL[/IMG*]
rather than
[*IMG]URL[/IMG*]
[*IMG]URL[/IMG*]

How do you make them small? Or get the images through Sylestia? I know how to do it with imgur

well, as said, you can't do it with non-sylestia images, only with sylestia pet image urls and avatar image urls
pet image urls look like

(if you grab the full-size one from the generator it lacks the "&size=" modifier, but you just paste it on the end and you're good to go.) It's that "&size=" modifier that controls the image size
so &size=150 makes
&size=250 makes
etc.
avatars use the same:

For non-sylestia images you'd just have to resize them with a program like photoshop then upload them to an imagehost or something though.
