For some reason, I can't log into sylestia from my MacBook. I'm on my iPhone now (and being highly amused at the way the autocorrect insists on capitalizing MacBook and iPhone) at the moment.

I'm not getting the invalid username or password error on the MacBook unless I actually enter in the wrong password. I also changed the password after I logged in on the phone. It just reloads the homepage with the login window already up whenever I try to log in.

Aaaaand apparently logs me out on the phone, too. I tried to submit this and found that out the not-so-fun way. XD

@Apple,

Hm. Very strange...

Well, for the logging out thing, you can only be logged in on one device at a time. When you log in, it'll log out you out of wherever else you are logged in at.

As far as not being able to log in, there really isn't anything that should keep that from happening on our end. It would be one thing if you logged in, it displayed as successful, but then just didn't log you in. But that doesn't seem to be happening.

The only reason you'd be getting that error is if your password or username didn't match.

The only thing I can think of is if there is some setting on your Macbook that isn't allowing POST data to be sent. I have never used a Mac before so I really have no idea what/how to fix something like that.

Is this the first time trying to log in via the Macbook? Or have you before?

Thanks. I hope so, too. I use my phone for sylestia all the time, but the computer's easier...

Something had to have been sent for it to know to log me out of this device, though, right?

I use both devices on a daily basis for pretty much everything, not just sylestia. I'm a major walker, so I'll sometimes just wander around with my nose in a book or phone, especially in-between classes. When I have class again, I log back on with my Mac. I've never had this problem before.

@Apple,

Okay. So taking a look at the code, it's basically seeing that you've entered a username and password, tries to pull that from the database, but can't find a match.

Is there some kind of special character in your password? Have you tried just using an alphanumerical password? I could see that maybe that might be affecting it.

That's about my only idea atm.

No, all three of the passwords I tried (the first, the recovered password I got via e-mail, and the one I changed it to) were alphanumerical.

@Apple,

I have no idea. It makes no sense to me why a specific device would be causing the server to think you're entering the wrong username or password unless you were actually submitting the wrong username or password.

Is Caps Lock on or something?

Nope, I checked a few times. XD

And like I said, the invalid password error doesn't come up, just the reloaded homepage.

@Apple,

Oh... I thought you said you were getting that error.

Do you have cookies enabled? If that's the case, then it sounds like the browser isn't storing the session variables.

I was having the same issue as well, I play Sylestia on a Mac PowerBook. It is a fairly old machine and I recently upgraded the operating system but it's still pretty much archaic. That aside, I can happily play other games on it with no problems. Two days ago I also encountered the 'can't login' problem described above. I cleared out cookies and that didn't help at all.

Luckily my other half has a Windows 7 laptop not doing anything and I managed to login on that. I reset my password thinking perhaps I would be able to login on my Mac again. I wasn't. Then I went through an exhaustive check list of possible problems (I used Firefox so it could have been browser-based or even to do with plugins that were interfering). In the end I discovered in the Firefox preferences tab under Privacy where it says 'Accept cookies from sites', go to Exceptions, I found that sylestia.com was listed there as Blocked! I have no idea how that happened so I changed it to Allow. After than I was able to login! So it's well worth checking your settings there, Sylestia might have become blocked.

The two devices thing is relevant as well, I did find myself logged out after being on the other machine too.

Edited to add a useful link for troubleshooting this type of problem if you use Firefox. I'm sure the equivalent exists for other browsers:
