In the world of Katinua, there are immortals. They are not gods, necessarily, but they are very powerful. There are the immortals of chaos and the gods of peace, and each one has a 'Contrary' of the opposite side. Every century or so, new Chaos and Peace immortals are chosen, to continue the balance of the world and to prevent its end, as the end of the world helps nobody and would kill everyone, Immortals included.
However, this time is different. The Peace immortals didn't want to step down. They refused, despite the fact they must leave to prevent apocalypse. Their replacements have been attacked by the current immortals- all of them are in hiding, protected by their Contrary and contrary-replacement Immortals.
The world is already dying. With the imbalance of power, the Chaos Immortals' magic is taking too much control and damaging Katinua. The new immortals must be brought in soon, and the current ones must step down- or the world will completely end.

Descriptions (for usable characters):
Vakinn: He is a shapeshifting, snakelike being. He has three forms- a fully human form, in which he is simply a tall man with snake eyes, a half-form, in which his top half is human and the bottom a snake, and his fully snake form, in which he is a 20-foot black mamba snake. Despite being quite a foreboding-looking person, he is actually quite kind, mild-mannered, and very shy.
Kanir: He is very tall, and he has fangs instead of normal teeth. He has horns on his head, and spikes all throughout his body. All of these things are retractable, however, and he only has them out when he needs to. He is clever and a little sarcastic, but he is extremely kind. He's like a father to practically everyone he meets, and he would do anything to protect the people he cares about.
Sinvari: Like Vakinn, she is a shapeshifter. She's also Vakinn's sister, or at least she was before becoming the Immortal of Heartbreak. She is very intuitive, and great at sensing emotions. She's very small, and extremely beautiful, but she has a pair of extremely sharp teeth, and she has claws as sharp as blades. She enjoys making people fall in love with her, and then leaving them with no warning or reason.
Tinta: Most people think she's a ghost. She is extremely wispy, and looks like she's made of smoke, making her hard to recognize. She absolutely loves animals, but sadly can't touch them without making them extremely sick. She's very social, but her voice is so quiet that very few even hear her. However, she tends to mistake this as people ignoring her, which always hurts her feelings.
Sia: She's very bad with social things. This is likely due to the fact that her body is a horrifically scarred mess of gore, blood, and visible organs, and also because she can't get her feelings across without coming off as harsh, rude, or uncaring. She's quite bitter about this, but tries not to take it out on others, and spends most of her time hiding in her home in the hopes nobody will be scared by her appearance.
Tirika: She, like her Contrary, is a giant animal. Unlike Vakinn, however, she is a peregrine falcon, not a snake. She is paranoid, fast, and smart, but hates violence and tries to avoid fighting.
Dinji: When looking at her, she is blurry. Similar to Tinta's wispiness, she is not as visible as most, and can be quite hard to notice when you aren't looking. She is very quiet, and very shy. Usually she is quite kind, but with the recent events she's gone almost feral, staying in hiding and attacking any non-Peace immortal that goes near.
Rika: To most, he just looks like a tree. He's reminiscent of a nyaid, or maybe an ent; his skin is made of bark, and beautiful cherry petals are always blooming on him, with the occasional rose as well. He is incredibly charismatic, and can be a tad obnoxious, but he means well. He doesn't like fighting, and honestly doesn't even really want to be hiding from the Chaos immortals, but that's what Eirna wants, and he can't go against his boyfriend.
Kakan: She is very tall, very large, and very, very petty. She is a shapeshifter, and doesn't have any true form. She prefers to be in the form of a deer, as it's both inconspicuous and beautiful. She takes vengeance on every small thing- she never forgets when somebody wrongs her. She can be incredibly hateful, but is also quite kind to the few who manage to stay off her bad side.
Eirna: The unofficial leader of the Peace immortals, he is the reason all of them are in hiding. He's brash and strong, and is so confident that it often comes off as arrogance. He's proud of every non-average thing about himself, ranging from the gender he dates all the way down to the fact his fingers are mildly longer than normal peoples'.
