So I have an earth pet that I don't know what equipment I should use for. I have a water pet that I need equipment for. I also want to know for the rest of the pets. What equipment corresponds with which element?

equips align typically with battle position

Phys elements (water/earth/air) get Str equips
Magical elements (fire/light/shadow) get Int equips

A Tank wants Agi equips
An attacker wants Dex equips

So Fire and Air pets, which are attackers, want Evoker (Int/Dex) and Myrmidon (Str/Dex) respectively
A Light healer wants Evoker since the chance to deal more damage (dex = crits) means better heals for the party

An Earth or Water Tank want Assassin (Str/Agi) because they want the higher evasion
A Shadow Tank wants Illusionist (Int/Agi) for the same reason

(If you're using a Water as a Buffer/Support pet, you might as well give it Myrmidon, if you're using a Shadow as an Attacker, then Evoker (unless it's past lv65, where you might want to mix in some int/agi, since their lv65 attack can inflict Taunted). A Light tank would get Illusionist)

(Post lv60, you can put grove equips on pets- 'tide lord', 'pyromancer', 'reaver', 'warden', 'storm caller', 'lightbringer'- technically designed for water, fire, shadow, earth, air, light respectively. Most people put pyromancer on their light pets, though, since lightbringer is int/agi and more people use light as a healer than as a tank, and you can mix-match reaver/lightbringer and tide lord/warden depending on what ratio of int/agi or str/agi you're after.
