There is a button saying stuck and battle in the exploration window, and i am forever wondering its purpose.....

There used to be a problem (maybe still happens) where users would end up in a battle against no enemies. If that happens, you can press the button and it'll get you out of the battle.

I was just stuck in a battle after capturing the final enemy, there were no targets left but I was still in battle.
I finished it by defending. That way I didn't have to declare a target and it ended the fight.

I think that Kestral was just wondering what the purpose of the "Stuck in Battle" button was; she didn't need to use it, she was just curious.
Also, I was wondering what its purpose was for a while too. XD
