Greetings, citizens of Ainmhithe (no its not a nonsense word). Your city is like any other major city. Tall buildings, a starbucks around every corner, more apartment buildings than actual houses, all that stuff. The one difference, the one thing that sets it apart from the rest, is the creatures called Peatai (if you know what these words actually mean, maitheas duit). These creatures appear at the exact moment someone turns thirteen years old, in the form of a cluster of dull grey tennis-ball-sized eggs appearing in front of them. That person then chooses the egg that calls to them the most, and as soon as they touch it, all the others disappear. Within an hour, the egg hatches, and the hatchling looks like either a dull grey tiny unicorn, dragon, or fox. The hatchling will tell you its name in your head, then over the next week, as you get to know each other, the hatchling will gain its colors. Those colors will be based off what you want it to look like, its personality, and yours. The hatchling will grow very slowly until you are eighteen, when they will stop. Your Peatai will be knee-height, whatever that is for you, and will not grow again. They will disappear, simply cease to exist, when you die. You can speak to each other in your minds, and your Peatai has to rely on you to translate what it is saying to the other humans if it wants to speak to them. Peatai also have a single magical ability, different from one to the next. I will give examples in the character sheet.
