This is an RP based around a series I'm writing. It takes place in a sort of alternate version of it.
To summarize the original story:
There's a small family with really big powers- they're basically gods. Universe and Shadow are the parents, and Rune and Thyme are their children. Universe is a really kind and sweet dark purple cat with a second cat skeleton outside of her body. Shadow is an evil shapeshifting demon kitty. Rune is an angsty dingo who wasn't born with powers, so her mom makes her a necklace giving her some. Thyme is an innocent little grey kitten. Shadow convinces Rune that her brother is evil, and she kills Thyme. Then Shadow breaks her necklace and scatters the shards of it across the universe, then kills almost everybody. Rune manages to reclaim one of the shards, and other ones find the rest;
*Diamond, a fluffy immortal tundra cat princess, finds a shard via a ghost.
*Choe, a winged panther leopard, finds one by absorbing magic from somebody else.
*Shade, a lime-green fennec fox, discovers one from his parents.
*Wilt and Fog, Shade's parents, each find a shard while exploring.
*Sonitus, a tiny red robo-kitten, ends up with it as a battery of sorts.
*Flaw and Glitch, a pair of AI cat sisters, are given the shards to power their intelligence.
Each of them eventually find Rune, and join forces to try to stop Shadow. This is extremely difficult, since Shadow is incredibly powerful, but they manage it in the end.
In this version, however, things are a bit different;
Sonitus, Shade, Glitch, and Wilt don't exist.
The other existing Shard-Keepers have the same powers, but there are a lot more shards in this universe, and those shards are a lot smaller.
There's more antagonists.
Shadow is slightly less powerful.
Stuff that's important to know:
The shards reflect the Keeper's personality. This is why all the Keepers have different powers despite having near identical shards.
All the Keepers had to go through some seriously bad stuff to get their shards. It's unavoidable; the shards require people who have been through (and handled) a lot of bad, possibly traumatic things.
The shards choose people. If somebody finds one, it's not by chance- they've been chosen.
Going against Shadow before they're ready is a death wish. Heck, going against Shadow even when they're ready is risky.
Shadow has killed almost everybody on the planet they're on.
Diamond's home is actually the moon of Rune's planet. That moon is about the size of our own moon.
Rune's planet is huge. As in, bigger than the sun.
Everybody excluding Diamond came from Rune's planet.
The shards only choose one person per species/religion, sort of like a representative, with the AI sisters (in the original) being the only exclusion.
All Shard-Keepers have a marking on their forehead that reflects their abilities.

Info on the species, and (for the originals) the Shard-Keepers' stories:
Kiniri cats- A race of semi-immortal cats that can live for around 500 years. They're in the time of kings and queens with constant war and battle. Diamond was a princess of the tundra kingdom, and had the rare trait of being able to see and interact with ghosts. However, an ancient queen named Jade semi-kills her, doing something called a 'Bonding', which made her able to control Diamond. Jade wreaked havoc on the Kiniri, until Diamond was all that was left.
Lieons- A generally small tribe of immortal leopards. They are naturally white with massive feathery wings, and can only be killed by what they call 'Shadow-trackers', or more accurately, panthers. Very rarely, a black, wingless lieon is born, and they have the ability to absorb the magic of and hence kill other lieons. Choe is one of these panthers, and was born blind. She was banished immediately. The leader of the Shadow-Trackers found her and took her in, but trained her to kill normal lieons. She eventually learned he planned to vanquish all the normal lieons, and in the end absorbed his magic, killing him. The influx of magic makes her look like a normal lieon.
The Creators- A general term referring to the deities of Rune's planet. Rune's story is already told up top.
AI- A singular cat named Flaw, who is an AI. It's self explanatory. She was created by Shadow, which was seen as enough hardship to be worthy of a shard.
Pantelupes- A race of long legged cat-dog creatures the size of elephants. In the original Fog is forced to kill Wilt, but in this version she is forced to kill the other pantelupes to save herself.
Robotics- Simple. Robotic cats. They're normally harmless.
Bluems- A tiny race of cats whose bodies are always covered in flowers. These flowers can heal creatures, but hurt the bluems.
Kinnre- One of the few non-mammals. Sort of like griffins, but with a hawk and snake instead of lion and eagle.
Aquin- A type of water-breathing deer. Very few are left, as most have been killed by Shadow.
Jinre- Basically, thunder cats. Cats with thunder powers. That's literally all there is to it.
Terrin- The other non-mammal. They're large, two-headed snakes who can burrow underground easily.
