I have completed all of the quests and checked the market. I have also attempted to log in and out but no town people appear to talk to, to let me progress in the game. I feel absolutely stuck and bummed that I cant access more parts of the site.

If you are still following the tutorial, which it sounds like you are, what does the box in the bottom-right of any page say?

If you accidentally minimized it, there should be a little '+' icon in the bottom right corner to open it back up.

It should tell you exactly what you need to do and provide a quick link to get to that page/feature.
