as Sunriseland said, PB stands for purebred/purebreed- these are pets descended from a single theme, and are denoted by a blue star in their info with the theme tag next to it.
eg, this nyte, which is PB sunbather gazania.
They already covered themed pets (there are also Grove themes, found in the lost grove, but LG is the lv60+ post-current-plot area)
