Okay, so I've been trying to find an answer to this and either I'm missing it completely or its not possible.
I purchased 4 Enhanced Essences so that I can have 12 traits, however when I load it its only letting me have 4. Is it not possible to have 12 traits?

you can't 'stack' essences- 4 enhanced essences means you can generate four pets with 4 TP (2 vis or 1v/2c, or 4 carry), not one pet with 12 TP
The only possible way to get a pet with 12 TP (6 vis) is via breeding.
The highest TP obtainable via non-breeding methods is finding a wild Mythical (8TP) (or managing to spot one on the vene or puff shops in Ethernia and have enough gold or arena marks or ethernia badges to get it)
