Not sure how to find a support pet, is it a certain species or traits?

typically a 'Support' pet is a Water element pet that someone has in slot 2 or 3 of their party that's used to... well. support the party. Buffing party members defence, debuffing opponents' abilities.

Ok, now how do I find one, a water element one?

Any pet can be a Support (Water-aligned) pet, provided they don't already have an elemental alignment. Set your pet's alignment to Water, add them to your party, and you've got a support pet.
