I would let the enemies knock your pets out, then go to an easier area to train a bit before returning. Upgrading your pets gear can be quite helpful as well.

thank you so much for answering (this is only my 3rd day playing) not sure where to go for an easier area, aren't I locked in to this quest? How do I find an easier area?

You might be locked into that quest in that area, but there should be previous zones (eg. Trollsblight Caverns) that you can go to to grind some exp. Alternately, Missions from Esior's Haven get exp for the pet.
I'd say at the least leave the battle and equip and stat your pets differently-
> both your pets need Int-based equipment (Illusionist (Int/Agi) for ARTHUR, Evoker (Int/Dex) for Miss Purple Passion).
Especially relics- at the moment both have Str-based relics, which means that they aren't getting the attack boost because those are Physical Damage equips and both pets are Magical Damage users.
> Your Shadow pet should be in slot 1
> his prof could be any of hp/int/agi, probably depends on preference and style
> Your fire pet should have Int prof to get the most damage dealt as an Attacker element pet

Oh my yes, but I finally beat em. I used the suggestion given by a friendly replier and returned to an earlier quest and built up my levels, etc. and was then able to beat them, but now I;m in the same trouble with some real tough guys and I have to beef up my guys some more. Good luck to you...
