I know you can't breed parent to offspring or siblings but what about half siblings? I looked for the thread that has the info but was unable to find it.

you cant breed pets that have the same parents, this include half-siblings, this is why you nead at least 3 pets to start a project (you breed the pet to the 'parent' they are no related too). ^-^
