The Sylestia banner at the top of the page also flickers when I mouse over it (when it animates). This happens consistently for me on Firefox, however it doesn't appear to happen on Chrome.

Sounds similar to the other issue you were reporting.

Sounds like Firefox has some sort of image changing/loading issue where it's updating an area to a new image and is taking an excessively long time to do so. So there's a brief, visible, moment where it's blank and thus the flickering.

Those two images (the banner) are even preloaded on page loads so that image should already be there on the page and just changes via javascript... which should be like 1ms, tops, and be completely invisible to the naked eye.

Not sure why your Firefox is having issues and being so slow to make these updates.

When I have time, I'll have to try and fiddle with Firefox and see if I can duplicate the issue.

Happens to me too, also using Firefox. I was about to open a thread about a flickering of the background whenever I move a space in the lost grove, but it seems Krin's aware of the issue already.
