We have finally released the first part of our new Forums! We plan to release the second part sometime in November.
With Part 1, we basically just recreated the Forums in a much better layout. It should perform more efficiently and more reliably. Pings should work 100% of the time now and will no longer clutter inboxes. Formatting should work better and be easier to understand, etc.
Part 2 will focus on a bunch of new features. These include a search feature, quick reply, thread subscribing, public editing, and probably more. If you have any suggestions as to what else the Forums should have, please feel free to reply to this thread!
New Ping System
With the new Ping system, you just simply list the usernames you wish to ping with your post in the appropriate box. So, if you wanted to ping myself and Faiona, you would just type "Krinadon,Faiona" into the box.
When the ping is sent, the user's ping notification lights green and displays how many pings they have. On the old layout, the "Forums" tab will light up orange. In order to view pings, visit any Forum page and they will be listed at the top of the page.
New Text Format System
The new Forums use slightly different text editing compared to the original forums. This will cause some complications with old posts vs new. To combat this, if a post was posted or last edited before the switch over, it uses the original formatting. If it's a new post, it uses the new formatting. Keep this in mind when editing older posts.
Additionally, some font colors, like yellow, are now hard to read on the new layout. So if you have relevant posts using special font colors, you may want to go back and edit them so that they are readable.

Very very cool. I'm excited about this new system, it's a great crisp look and a well needed overhaul. Very professional! Looking forward to all the additions, thanks again for the hard work!

Ooooo.... I'm liking this. Had to edit all my bookmarks, but hey. It makes sense. I like the way the pings work!
