Here is a game for my fellow writers. The rules are simple: keep it appropriate, write just about a paragraph, try to tie it somewhat together, provide images for any and all new characters, and be sure to stay in order. For example: Lucy would ping Jeff because he's next, then Jeff would ping Marcy because she's next. The story will be about Sylestis, but it does not have to take place in Sylestia. I will start.

Little Blue dreaded going to magic school. It wasn't because of a fear of new places, nor that he'd heard how hard they graded there. No. It was the finals he dreaded. And that one group of Sylestis who always teased him and his fear of danger. But it was a rather safe fear. Why put yourself at risk just for the thrills? That's why he found himself reluctant to accept the letter to the school. The finals at Willamette School of Magic were known to weed out the weak.... usually by death.
