Her mother is American and her Father is japanese, they both lived in America, and her parents wanted to move back to Japan, but with 4 kids, her Mother going back to college it was hard to organize and afford the move, so they just stayed in America until one day, her older sister got a winning lottery ticket, so they were finally able to move. Her father was the only one completely fluent, but the family picked up the language quickly. Tess goes by 'Tesu' because it sounds more Japanese. She's not 100% fluent in Japanese, and will sometimes revert to speaking English when she's going on a rant, scared, or excited.
