Rain pattered in small rivulets down gritty walls. A cold breath of air shoved papers and litter this way and that, adding a chill to the already freezing air. Frost glittered in spirals and infinite fractals along the tinted glass of a seemingly abandoned building. Past the window and down a musty corridor a tall, muscular man stood, tugging on his raven colored mustache without mercy. His booted foot tapped beats into the floor, sending dust motes dancing into the dimly lit room. Behind the man a large promethium board dominated the wall, its white surface lit up with projected images from the small, rickety projector that hung from the ceiling above.

She exhaled, shivering slightly as she tugged the sleeves of her black hoodie further down her arms. Deanne's eyes wandered the street. A few people walked past hurriedly, their shoes splashing in the puddles on the sidewalk as they tried their best to get back home in the cold weather. Dee hated cold weather, but right now she had somewhere to be. The teenager flipped her hood on and continued walking.

Lucas sat on a park bench, leaning on his arm. He didn't care about the cold rain at all. It was merely tickling his skin, and he didn't mind his hair or face being wet. His dark green eyes observed the crowd, and his hands clutched a small piece of light grey paper. His hand shook slightly, and he willed himself to take another glance at the words printed on the small note. He was intrigued- he had thought it was a prank from one of those young boys, just taunting someone who lived on the street. But he knew that it wasn't. Something was wrong.

"Ignore it," he whispered to himself, running a hand through his messy mane of blonde hair. Kai glanced around the diner where he worked as a waiter. The slip of paper had appeared with a small tip next to the cashier's register a few days ago. He had read it- all it contained was an address. Maybe someone had left it? His blue eyes flickered down to the paper again. No one had claimed it and on further inspection he had noticed a name on the back. His name.

Christopher Campbell wasn't going to ignore the note. It wasn't some stupid prank. It couldn't be. But then again Chris trusted everyone and everything to the point where it was stupid. It's important, he told himself. If it has my name on it, it must be. He was pulling his jacket on already, prepared to go outside in the rain.

[White-Owl]
A small figure sat perched in the shadows of a rooftop, clutching a torn note to his chest. His delicate gloved hands shook like leaves in the wind. The words were jumbled like alphabet soup to the boy, as he couldn't yet read in English. He didn't know why a note was addressed to him, using his vigilante name no doubt, and was suspicious.
[The Talon]
The dark man stood next to the crouched boy, his mask glinting cruelly in the sharp late fall's light. The knives and weapons that decorated his body suit jingled as he snatched the note from his apprentice's unwilling grasp, further ripping it.
[Koliv'n R'yy| Martian Manhunter]
Kolivan floated aimlessly next to a park bench, about three inches off the ground, holding the note out with peaked curiosity. Sure, I could've been a prank, but no one except the military and government knew his true identity and name.
[Gail Everlynn| Hawkgirl]
The bird brained girl giggled bubbly as she cartwheeled around the abandoned building she resided in. Dust rose and splashed colors of brown in her wake as she paused her excited antics to continue reading the mysterious note that had appeared on her doorstep the day before.

"This..." She whispered to herself as she gazed up at the once magnificent building. "Cannot possibly be what I'm supposed to find." In front, the fountain was empty. The golden sculpture in the entryway had lost its shimmer. The large iron gates in front were closed, but right now Dee was willing to slip through and try to investigate. Of course the weird note led me to the abandoned 'Hall of Justice' or whatever they called it. Superheroes... don't exist. At least not ones like the ones who used to stay here.

He threw glares back at the people who spotted him on the street and wrinkled their noses at his appearance. His jacket was dirty and so were his jeans, he knew. His dark hair was disheveled and he had a slight stubble on his cheeks. His piercing green eyes didn't help with his somewhat terrifying look either. He hadn't found a place to stay after he lost his job but right now that's not what mattered. He only cared about finding the place on the note.

He left the diner, making sure to lock the doors for closing, and took a deep breath. He glanced back down at the crinkled paper in his hands. It was an address, but nothing that was especially important or memorable to him. He typed it into his phone and it came up as a building a mile or so away. No pictures of it were listed, but he continued on his way, barely noticing the droplets of rain.

He was driving through the streets, past the park. He drove slowly in the rain, and as he turned the curb, he saw something shocking. A young man was floating a few inches off the ground beside the park bench. Chris nearly pulled the car over but the people driving behind him honked their car horns. He continued down the street, wondering if it had been a trick of the eyes. Weird things had been happening to him lately...
