Earlier when I was trying to buy an egg I could not buy it because it said "YOU CAN NOT BUY A PET WHILE IT IS IN BATTLE" and i t said the same thing when I was trying to buy and breed pets

go back to the world map and finish the battle you are in, then go try to buy/breed pets

That is because, as the pop-up say, you are in a battle. Go to the world map and the zone you are in, and finish the battle you are in.
