The Celestial War over Earth

A ancient treasure has disappeared. An amulet gem that was so powerful and strong, it could capture an Arch Demon and seal its soul away forever. With the weapon in their possession, the Angels flourished and reigned triumphant over the Demonic Realm. However, in a particularly gruesome revolt between the Angels and a small legion of demons, the Amulet of Nezcore fell to earth and disappeared somewhere around New York City, New York. Nahazareth, King of the Demons, has sent six demons to retrieve and destroy the stone, but at the same time, Michael the Archangel has sent six angels to retrieve the stone and bring it back to the Heavenly Realm for safe keeping. You were given the honour of being sent to earth to retrieve the Amulet of Nezcore. However, visiting Earth was also very dangerous. You could only reveal your true form for five minutes, and it left you exhausted afterwards. You didn't know if the person next to you was a demon or an angel or merely a mortal. You had to get a job, and a house, and you'd need to eat like a normal human would. And on top of that, you still have to find the Amulet.

Are you up for the task?

Berwald Rosenquist unlocked the front of his small bakery, letting the warm scent of bread flow out into the cold street of Manhattan. He went behind the counter and into the back kitchen, where he prepped more dough and waited for it to rise. He heard the front bell tinkle and he headed back to the front of the bakery.
"Good mornin'" he said to the customer.
The customer yawned. "Good morning!" he said. He looked at the display counter.
"Can I buy a cinnamon roll? They look really yummy." the man said. The man was rather short (in Berwald's opinion with a roundish face and bright purple-blue eyes. He had rosy cheeks, soft blonde hair, and a childish disposition.
The smaller blonde looked into his messenger bag. His face fell. "Oh no... I seem to have left my money at home..." he said. "I'll go back and get it real quick..."
"S'okay." Berwald said. "'s a Monday. Have it on me." He handed the customer a warm cinnamon roll. "J'st don' tell th'other customers."
The smaller man smiled and sat down at a small booth. "Hey, do you want to join me? How about you get yourself a cup of coffee and sit with me?" he asked.
Berwald thought about it for a moment and finally consented. He got a cup of coffee and sat on the other side of the table. He took a sip of coffee.
"You don't sound like you're from around here..." the customer said.
"Y'think?" Berwald replied gruffly.
"Where are you from?"
"Sverige. Sweden." the taller man said.
"My name's Tino Paavola. I'm from Finland. I'm pretty new to this area... New York is very frightening. There are birds and loud noises and really tall buildings..."
"M'name's Berwald. Berwald Rosenquist." Berwald said, his voice still monotone. "'m pretty new here too. I opened this bakery 'bout a year 'go, shortly after I arrived."
"I came to America about a year ago too!" Tino said. "Maybe we were on the same plane together!"
"M'be..." Berwald said, remembering falling to Earth in a ball of fire and landing in the cold waters of the East River. "S'mthin' like that..."
Tino finished his cinnamon roll. "Well, I need to go to work. I should get you dinner sometime, you know, to pay you back for the cinnamon roll. Here's my card." He handed Berwald a business card for his shop.
The swede looked down at it. "Y'work at Divine Florists?" he asked. "Isn't tha' right next t' m'shop?"
"Yes! I don't know why I haven't seen you before!" Tino said. He smiled. "Well, I'll see you later!" He turned and walked out the door.
Berwald smiled slightly, something he usually didn't do. The man seemed really nice. Could he be another angel?

Tino walked next door to Divine Flowers and opened the door, taking off his sweater and putting on a pink apron that read 'Divine Flowers'. On his apron was a pin that said 'Hello! My name is Tino!'. He stretched and got to work.

Valentina Steiger was cleaning up in her classroom. She giggled as she noticed a picture one of the kids drew for her. She took it behind her desk and pinned it to the board. She stared at it for a moment then let out a long sigh. She hated the fact that someday the amulet May be foundand she would have to leave. She loved working with the children. Sure they occasionally did something wrong, but she was there to help them learn and grow from those mistakes so they would be good people.
She remembered when she came here she had to get some celestial help to get the job as teacher. The first day teaching was the most joyous day she had ever experienced. She loathed the days she had to stay away from her precious children.
She then continued work, finishing up the last of her cleaning. As she left, she flicked the lights off. She walked slowly through the halls, occasionally waving at another teacher cleaning up their classroom for the weekend. When her foot touched the concrete outside the school building she instinctively started humming. She walked slowly through the busy streets. Many heads turned her way surprised at her strange cheerfulness. She didnt move fast as she knew that she would have to continue searching for that cursed gem as soon as she reached her home.

Tino stood outside his shop, putting delicate roses into flowerpots. He straightened up and stretched, running his fingers through his hair. He looked around. The leaves were turning red and gold, causing him to smile. It was autumn. He'd never seen autumn before he had come to Earth. He used to live in the hot region of the Demonic Realm.

Valentina Paused as she walked past the flower shop. Her eyes sparkled with excitement. Flowers! Autumn flowers for my classroom! Yes! she said excitedly. She quickly opened her purse and walked over to Tino. Hello good sir! Do you have any recommendations for good autumn flowers for a classroom? I work with kindergarteners and I know they would just love flowers. Oh! I almost forgot. How much would they cost? she asked.

"Only six dollars for a dozen..." Tino said shyly. "I have Crocus, Gladiolus, Begonia, and Dahlia, but I'm getting an order for Nerine this afternoon." he sighed. "Flowers are the most beautiful things in the world... So, those are the only flowers I have at the moment that are in season. I have roses and spider lilies inside, but they won't last very long unless kept in warm conditions. I'd suggest the Dahlias... They last the longest when indoors." He looked a bit nervous and fidgeted with his hands.

Tino nodded and started to gather a dozen dahlias. "Here you go." he said, smiling. He handed her the flowers and took the seven dollars, giving her a dollar back. He gave her two oranges, two pinks, four reds, two flames, and four bronzes. "This is an autumn bouquet." he said. "It's sure to brighten anyone's day!"

Thank you! she said as she took the bouquet. She let out a happy sigh. They are absolutely gorgeous. she mumbled. She then began to walk away, a slight skip in her step.

Tino waved, smiling. He stretched and walked over to Berwald's. Berwald was in the kitchen, decorating a cake for some person's 100th birthday. He didn't understand why they'd want a cake. The old person probably wouldn't be able to even eat the cake. On a second note, the old person would probably set themselves on fire while trying to blow out 100 candles.
