Pets can be moved to the stables as soon as they reach adolescence, but they only auto-move out of the hatchery once they hit 648 Maturity (Adulthood), although I think they move over at the next hourly tick after they hit it, rather than when they hit it exactly.

A pet of 14 days + 1 magical pie isn't going to have that maturity (336 hours + 144 hours = 480 hours)
